What's New in Wildfire Watch France
1.0.3
October 18, 2026
Wildfire Watch France now tells you how hot each fire is burning and what that means for you. HEAT OUTPUT Every fire shows the heat it is radiating, from minimal to extreme, with a plain-language reading of what that usually means, how many satellite passes and detections it rests on, and a trend over the last day: growing, steady, fading, or "not enough passes to say" when the evidence is thin. A 24-HOUR OUTLOOK See how readily a fire could spread over the next day and why: wind, humidity, temperature, recent rain, the official danger level and the vegetation, each one listed. A fire radiating extreme heat is never rated below High, and the card says when it was raised. It is a guide to conditions, not a forecast of where a fire will go. CLOSER TO HOME Saved places and your own location show the distance and compass direction of the nearest fire, whether you are downwind, the air quality, a rough smoke window and clear guidance on what to do and what not to do, with the emergency numbers one tap away. QUIETER, SMARTER ALERTS Get told when a fire near a saved place gets stronger, or when one appears near your own location, with quiet hours at night and a limit on how often you are alerted. A new Today card summarizes your region, and the Apple Watch app and complication now show the nearest fire. Your location and saved places stay on your device. The app now waits to ask for location or notification permission until you use something that needs it. FIXES AND CARE The official danger level is now used only while its bulletin is current, and the app shows how old it is. The app refreshes when you open it and says when its data may be out of date. Distances and temperatures start in kilometers and Celsius. When the wind is too light to tell which way a fire will spread, the app says so instead of guessing. Colored labels are easier to read.
