Developed by Windigo First Nations Council, the Windigo Language App is an Indigenous-led digital learning tool that supports the revitalization and reclamation of Anishinaabemowin and Anishininiimowin. Created for learners of all ages, this mobile app empowers users to engage with their languages through immersive, community-rooted, and culturally informed methods.
Designed by Anishinaabe and Anishininiiw language teachers, and voiced by Elders and fluent speakers from Windigo First Nations Council communities, the app blends Indigenous pedagogical frameworks on a mobile platform. At its core, the Windigo Language App is more than a learning app — it is a bridge back to community, culture, and identity.

We’ve made several improvements to make learning clearer, smoother, and more focused for students : - We’ve introduced a new font designed to improve readability and make vocabulary easier for learners to recognize. - Answer confirmations now appear in their own dialog boxes, making it easier for students to see when they’ve selected the correct response clearly. - Screen inputs are temporarily disabled during audio playback to help learners focus on listening and pronunciation. - We’ve fixed several bugs and made general improvements to keep everything running smoothly.
