FAQ

What does Winmaildat Opener do?

Winmaildat Opener is a free utility app designed to open and extract files from winmail.dat email attachments. It allows you to view the contents of these attachments directly on your phone or tablet.

How do I use Winmaildat Opener?

The app registers itself as a handler for .dat files. When you tap on a winmail.dat attachment, the app will launch, displaying a list of its contents. You can then choose to preview, resend, print, or save these files.

Is Winmaildat Opener free to use?

Yes, the core functionality of Winmaildat Opener is free and fully functional. There is an optional in-app purchase available to remove advertisements from the app.

Does the app require an internet connection to open winmail.dat files?

No, the actual process of extracting the winmail.dat file does not require an internet connection. The app may request internet permission due to its ad-supported nature, but the extraction itself is offline.

What if my .dat file doesn't open?

It's important to ensure that your file is specifically a 'winmail.dat' file. The .dat extension can be used for many different file types. If your file is not a winmail.dat attachment, this app will not be able to open it.
