The worst app

As much as I enjoy the content Wired provides, using this poorly designed app is a terrible experience!

Trying to link the app with my subscription account—two things that seem completely separate—has proven impossible. Now, when I’m already frustrated and just want to delete the app and cancel my subscription, that also seems impossible!

I’m hugely disappointed.

Conde Nast Ruined Wired

Ever since Wired was sold to Conde Nast, it’s been downhill for the publication. First, the paper issues became thinner and then even thinner. Ads and product “reviews” filled up the pages that before had proper news coverage. Now even the digital version of the magazine is suffering too, with subscription issues and a cumbersome system that’s intended to sell you other magazines but fails to provide the one you actually want to subscribe to. Hard to say if Wired magazine still has a future. Things are looking pretty bleak.

No syncing across platforms

No synced data across platforms. Logged into my account on the browser and saved an article but it doesn’t appear in the app in my saved. Makes it challenging to read on the go

Amateur, unprofessional, very limited functionality and …

Mostly adverts and lacking any content list. An outstanding example of how NOT to do stuff online. Ironic as it’s Wired and blows any credibility they had. Perhaps most Conde Naste magazines are mostly adverts? I had to pay 2x for this app and it barely works at all and when it does it’s a big battle to find any interesting content.
Strongly not recommended.
How can they do something so badly and live with themselves?
I mean conde naste and wired.
Have they never considered employing someone with a clue to sort this unusable heap of total *rap out?

Insane text options

You can have tiny or MASSIVE and nothing in between. Good luck. Oh and the pricing strategy and international alignment is a mess.

Login fails

Tried to login to my subscriber account, app email a link, the link when followed cause a “link not valid error’

Not perfect.

But not bad.

Still doesn’t work

This app is broken. As others have said the app on both iPad and iPhone refuses to recognise your subscription if you have both print and digital.

It should come with a warning at least, Apple should remove the app.

Problems

The app keeps forgetting my subscription and doesn’t remember that I am logged in.

Hang on a mo - its not half bad

2023 update… this feels old now.. a bad pdf reader type experience.

NB: The December 2010 issue of Wired magazine on iPad was a one-off publication. Regular iPad versions of Wired will begin in 2011. Having read the US version this was more than welcome. Its cheaper than the print version and has some nice interactive content as well as the usual. The imagery looks great (mostly) and the portrait to landscape stuff works well; if users are having issues they should take time to read the instructions before they complain here. Bravo chaps and chapesses. Suggestions - The ability to back up editions, I might not want to carry around a full years worth and I don't want to have to download an edition more than once if I fancy having a read of it again in a few months. Additional streaming of content might be an idea to reduce the massive size / bulk out the content Background downloads - half a gig is a long wait.

No more iPad app?

Cannot get this to open any longer. Reinstalling does nothing. What’s happened?

App doesn’t open in iOS 17

Since getting a new iPhone 15 running iOS 17, the app won’t open. Is the app now defunct? That would be a shame as simply having the magazine online was helpful.

Poor app experience

Instruction don't match UI and poor Ux. content is good though just poor deivery

Download does not work

The app serves one purpose: to download issues. I’ve yet to be able to download anything, despite reinstalling and re-authenticating my credentials multiple times.

Login does not work

I suscribed to the print + digital issue. I have a client number etc but it does not matter what I do, it is impossible to get access to my digital subscription.

When I enter the E-mail address and password, it says wrong E-mail or password. But when I enter the same E-mail with another password, it says subscription not found???

When I try to go through the "forgot password" process, nothing happens. I do not get an E-mail. Nothing.

The customer support does not respond to inqueries either.

Big disappointment so far. I hope that I will at least receive my print issues, since they have not arrived yet either but to be fair, it has only been something over a week and this can take time.

Terrible

Awful app. Won’t let you “get” the editions you want despite the option. Customer services don’t want to know. Print edition arrives days/weeks earlier than digital one. Makes no sense. Will be cancelling.

Don’t bother

Impossible to use on the iPhone. Conde Nast worse than useless. For a magazine which is meant to be technology focused this is unforgivable

First issue

I appreciate ability to keyword search an issue and share an article of special interest to me.

You should be a shamed

Anyone working on this should be ashamed or they simply don’t care! It’s absolutely terrible for a pub focused on Tech. Save yourself the time, hassle and money. Buy something else.

app support is terrible

I had a digital subscription but couldn’t access any issues. Contacted conde Nast as directed on the app (contact for feedback) but they fobbed me off to apple and just listed a couple of internet links. Issue remains unresolved.Apple also of no help. So I just cancelled. Avoid.
