Not Really Confirmed
Booked a tour, received confirmation in writing. Spend thousands of dollars to travel here. Have limited time. Show up at appropriate time and the guide is not there. Call the guide and the guide knows nothing of my tour and is currently guiding a different tour elsewhere. I was able to locate a different guide last minute at considerable more cost.
Reached out to With Locals who promptly refunded my money (same as what credit card dispute would accomplish) and offers a voucher for a future booking. I have no plans to return to any city served by With Locals in the next couple years so the voucher is useless to me and I’m left with the added cost. The bottom line is their written confirmations mean nothing.

Consistently good in every city
I book a WithLocals tour in every city we visit, from Stockholm to Tokyo to Seoul, Dubrovnik, Istanbul or Prague, they have all been very done. The platform is truly easy to use and formulaic across countries, so you know what you’re getting from place to place. Love this app !!

Georgetown Food Tour with Lisa
We loved our food tour with Lisa. She was very friendly and informative of the local restaurants, culture and dishes. There were 6 in our group, including a 1 year old baby. Lisa introduced us to food and restaurants that we never would have found on our own. She was patient in answering our questions and we learned a lot about the local vendors and traditional dishes from a variety of the cultures in the area.
Our group would highly recommend Lisa and this tour.

Ugh
I am only reviewing the app. For me it has been terrible. Worse than useless. Extremely frustrating and no response to my request for help. Very unfortunate as I will not make another booking with this company.
They charge you without committing to the experience
I created a profile, booked an experience for 220 dollars, and they cancelled it straight away, within 1 minute. Now they tell me they will take 10 days to give me a refund, and I am stuck speaking to a chat bot. Avoid
Other providers will charge you at the moment of the experience, not before without commitment.

Useless service
I booked a tour. The specific guide couldn’t make it and re-assigned me to another guide, who also couldn’t make it. This went on three times and after that they ended up telling me they don’t have anyone available and would refund me (in 10 days!). What’s the point of having an app if you can’t have up to date information about whether your guides are available or not? Total waste of time for me. Will not use again.

Bad experience
Had a bad experience from start to finish. Needed to reach app admin to confirm the tour per app notification confusion. They are closed on weekends, which is odd for a tour company. Ultimately they responded but resolution of a simple issue took multiple communications and was rather frustrating. Worst, the tour was the worst ever experienced in many decades. Have been to nearly 50 countries and have taken countless tours. This tour with the local was the most boring, lackluster experience. Tour guide checked texts on his phone repeatedly, explaining that he was booking other tours (while he was giving a “tour”). This went on for extended periods and we felt ignored. We nearly canceled the tour one hour in. Absolutely the worst experience.

Best way to find your local guides
Very useful app for finding locals as your guides. You can see and hear your guides speak before you decide which one best fit your needs. One of the best platform for a travelers and local guides. Highly recommend it.
Nice app but where is the support?
A nice app for finding an booking a tour, but now I can’t login and can’t find any support links through the app or website. Only a chatbot that apologized for not being able to help. Since the only way to communicate with host is through the app, I now can’t send a message. You should be able to reply to email to respond to messages. And there should be support for login issues. In this situation I am using Sign in with Apple. So I don’t know if it is an Apple or withlocals problem, but effect is the same.

Zero accountability
There is no way to report a host or to receive a refund. If you get scammed there is zero recourse, no point of contact and no refund. They keep the money and pay the scammer. I got scammed immediately from a listed guide and experience.
32% a bit high don’t you think?
I used this service in Argentina. It was nice to be connected with a local. The host did a great job. The app itself is a bit buggy. Searching for experiences was showing no listings a couple of times. I also looked into being a host, and was surprised see the app company takes 32% of the fee!
This is just another example of a “tech” company taking advantage of people.

They disappoint every time
I have tried booking WithLocals on several occasions and they consistently disappoint. No follow up. Poor coverage. Missed commitments. I’ll remain a loyal Tours by Locals customer. WithLocals should learn lessons from them.

Had a wonderful tour with your tour guide Dina. She was prompt, personable, and very charming. She was open to our requests and suggestions and provided us a wonderful afternoon in the beautiful city. Would highly recommend this to our guide.
