About
Wonderwhy turns the topics you pick into a short audio news briefing, like a daily news podcast made for you. While you listen, hold the mic and ask about the story: the answer comes in the same voice, then the briefing picks up where it left off.
Every story is built from several news sources. Wonderwhy shows where they agree, where they conflict and what only one source reports, with a link to each publisher.
LISTEN
• A briefing of a few minutes (ten at most, twenty with Premium) from the sections you choose: top stories, politics, business, world, sports, tech and more
• Five editions: US, World, Türkiye, Spain and Germany. The app speaks English, Spanish, German and Turkish
• Choose your narrator from five voices, from upbeat to deep
• Narration speed from 0.75× to 2×; the voice keeps its pitch
• A short summary of every story, and a longer version if you want more
ASK
• Hold the mic and ask while you listen. The answer comes from the story; if the story doesn't cover it, the answer says so and gives brief background
• Ready-made questions: "Why it matters", "More detail" and "What sources say"
HANDS-FREE
• Voice commands: say "stop", "next", "change topic" or "faster" while a briefing plays. Turn them on when you like; recognition stays on your phone
COMPARE
• See how different sources tell the same story: where they agree, where they conflict, what only one of them says
• Coverage of the same story is grouped into one, with its sources listed and linked
• No left or right labels on outlets: you see what each source reports and decide for yourself
IN THE CAR (Premium)
• CarPlay: Today, My list and Sections on your car's screen
LIBRARY
• Save stories and build a listening list; it syncs across your devices
• With Premium, download today's stories and listen offline
NOTIFICATIONS
• A morning briefing notification at the time you choose
• Alerts for major developments stay off until you turn them on. Then: at most two a day, never between 10 pm and 8 am your time
IN THE BACKGROUND (Premium)
• Keep listening after you leave the app and on the Lock Screen
• Pause or skip to the next story from the Lock Screen and your headphones
FREE AND PREMIUM
• Free to use, with a shared 5 minutes a day for listening and questions. The free version shows non-personalized ads.
• Wonderwhy Premium, monthly or yearly (the yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial): unlimited listening and questions, a 20-minute briefing, CarPlay, background listening, offline listening, and ads are removed. Payment is charged to your Apple Account.
