Free Hints don’t show on iPhone

The problem is the hints don’t work very well the free ones and the others are too costly. Once you run out, there are no more free ones commercials are rampant.
The actual puzzles are fun.

Crocodile Problem

I love this gam but crocodile level 1 is impossible for me to solve. Can’t get the word shallow in any order I do for the other words. Is there a glitch or am I missing out on something?
