Word of The Day Widget User Reviews

Hilariously bad

For an app that claims to teach you better vocab words, they really rely on you not reading anything. I got a “special offer” for a whopping 0% off on the monthly paid subscription. If I could attach images in reviews I would.

Too easy

These words are too easy even for advanced

Incorrect Definition

Some of the words have incorrect definitions and when it was used in a sentence, the wrong word was shown.

Mixed quality

Seems like the caliber of word and accuracy of definition and context has degraded lately. Maybe AI integrations?

Useless

This app for kids

Even on advanced settings it gives very basic vocabulary.

I was hoping to learn new unusual words to expand my vocabulary but this app only gives very very basic words :( not the right fit for me and my needs

Has potential, but words are easy and repeat

As a writer, I’m always looking for ways to expand my vocabulary. I had high hopes for this app — I love the customizable widget feature. But (in the free version at least) the words are WAY too easy. Even in the “advanced” category — “guest house” is not an advanced word. The other thing is I keep getting repeats! The English language is huge, I shouldn’t be getting words repeated multiple times a week! I’ve seen the word “nival” about 5 times now. Sigh… onwards with my quest of finding a good word of the day app

Encouraging education effectively and effortlessly

Cool widget app to learn and discover new words effortlessly

Balmy as noun?

The word of the day was Balmy and the app described it incorrectly as being a noun

Love it

The widget feature is amazing! It’s affordable and always visible on my screen, so I can keep learning English all day. Thanks a lot!

DO NOT BUY THIS APP.

It told me that the definition of “diligent” was “(n) quickness, alertness”. It is NOT. The Oxford dictionary definition of “diligent” is “careful and persisted work or effort”. This will teach you incorrect English.

I like the idea of the app, but…

… the app keeps showing the same word every day.

When words are too long they are not minimised

When a word is too long and you want to share that on a social media site, the word isn't minimised, it's just kept the same text size and then the remaining last few letters on the end of the word are put underneath the word so it looks like two words, even though it's actually just one word. Developers should fix the font size, for social media sharing or saved as an image so that it looks like one word, not two different words that then don't make sense..
