Well. Pleasantly surprised.

I’ve been extremely dismayed about the changes in app development over the last few years. Everything is converting to subscription or increasing in cost by literally thousands of percent. So it’s refreshing to find an app that offers good value at a reasonable price. And developers that actually listen to their users and protect those that supported them in the past are becoming rare, so thanks for that.

As for the app itself, it does exactly what I expect of it, offering a few minutes of welcome diversion as I get ready for my day. Thanks for *that* as well.

Update: you're right, and for an app called Word of the day I should have chosen my words more carefully. So I fixed the thing instead of the wording. With the latest update, everyone who bought Word of the day before it went free also gets the Personalization pack (themes, app icons, accent colors) at no cost. It unlocks automatically, nothing to do. No word games: you own it all. Thank you for holding me to my own words. If this changes how you feel about the app, I'd be grateful if you reconsidered your review.

What fresh hell is this!?

I bought this app a while back. Now it’s apparently free and I have the “full pro edition”, “You have every feature unlocked free, forever”… Oh, except there are new “optional extras” that I have to pay for instead of being grandfathered in. No. That’s not every feature unlocked free. I’m so tired of these word games app developers are playing.

Thanks for your feedback. Just to clarify: if you purchased the previous version, your Pro edition is still fully unlocked and is actually richer now, with quizzes, new translations (18 languages), progress tracking, Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets, the ability to mark words as known, and multiple notifications. The new optional purchases are purely cosmetic: they only add additional themes and graphic customizations. You are not being asked to pay again for any content or features that were included in your original purchase.

Suggestion

Would help to have a sentence using the word in context to better understand the meaning. Otherwise the app is very easy to use & very helpful.

The app has been rebuilt from scratch in SwiftUI with a fresh, modern look and improved navigation. We've also added new features like custom sorting options and lock screen widgets. We'd love to hear what you think of the new design!

Good start. Needs usage examples.

The app is OK and I particularly like that it is showing me advanced words that I’m newly exposed to and I find useful. But I’m shocked there are no usage examples. It doesn’t need to be a dictionary with multiple examples but each word should have an example sentence.

Please make it possible to add “background”-I prefer color gradients. Hopefully, you get I am mentioning here and thank for this wonderful application.

Missing a lot

I would love to see more features: like easy words vor beginners or intermediates.
Also it would be nice to get a translation of the word into my native language and maybe an additional sentance which uses the word of the day.

This isn’t the best.. although they give you a decent word it only gives you a one word explanation, and no sentence of use.

Olá, com a versão 2.0 está disponível com muitas palavras em português.

Les fautes de français dans une application de perfectionnement du français...

Cette application qui a pour but le perfectionnement de la langue française est truffée de fautes de français... L'auteur ne connaît manifestement pas cette langue et rien n'indique d'où proviennent les définitions données.
