Solid game from a quality creator

I really enjoy this game, and I’m happy to see it come to iOS. Never quite fit into my steam gaming, but taking it on the go on my phone has been awesome.
I bought it to support GMTK. I play it because it’s fun.

Love the game and the other reviews are funny

Me and my wife have a lot of fun playing this game! We play it as we hang out on the couch and each game is a little different with what strategies you use and other challenges we choose.
I think the bad reviews about this game are really funny there are a bunch that give it a one star because this game is too easy because they cheat by going to Google to find the longest word possible lol. And other people say they don’t like it cause you can’t grow the score like crazy like in Balatro even though you totally can. They just rage quit before they found them. Also I found other review that give it a bad rating because they don’t like word games at all. Anyways I think this is a great game and I love the idea and concepts.

Also I would love to see a menu where you can see all the different cards you’ve seen during your play through and keep hidden the ones you haven’t found. Like every time I play I think I’ve seen all the cards and a new one will show up every so often. I just think if I had a menu that showed how many cards I’ve seen or used and how many cards I have yet to find. Also it would be fun to see the full list to try to find new synergies.

A fun idea, not as fun as it could be

I bought this because of the similarities to Balatro, as I’m sure many have. While it’s a fun game, ultimately it doesn’t hit the same though. Basically the game feels like the first one or two antes of Balatro (when it feels like basically regular poker) and never gets to a place that’s like the later antes of Balatro with crazy scoring, jokers changing what scores and what doesn’t, and genuine strategies emerging.

This game just feels like you’re playing Scrabble and doesn’t take enough risks to build on that foundation and make something special. I want modifiers that change how things score, multipliers on the entire score that can stack and open up strategies of how to combine them together. The bag of letters you start with is so big that getting enchanted tiles feels almost useless cause you’ll never encounter them again after you first convert them.

There’s a lot of potential here but it just falls short.

Good game! Improvements can make it better.

Word library needs a bit of expanding, love the petition button, but it feels like it can halt an otherwise good play…

Great game, battery killer

Really good game. but On Osx it just kills the battery so quick. Hopefully can be updated to fix battery drain

Positively addictive

This game is really fun! When I start playing I really want to keep going. But because this is a brainy game I don’t feel as bad as I do when playing other game genres. I played one free round and immediately went for the full version, which is absolutely fairly priced for a game I enjoy that much. Perfect for commuting.

Cool game 👍

Saw your video on GMTK, glad it’s on IOS. Pretty cool, even if I’m not the biggest word game fan.

Thanks, Mark!

It's a great game with fun features and a BGM track seems like it's going to be stuck in my head for a long time. 😅 Easily worth the five bucks to unlock the full features. Thanks for this and for all the years of GMTK insights, Mark! ❤️🤜🤛

Great game

Tons of fun. Can’t stop playing. Actually send help. I need to go to work.

Phenomenal word game!

I have been addicted since I bought the full game this week!

Absolutely Addicted

Wow I’m hooked. Love Mark Brown’s channel, and he’s really out here doin’ the dang thing! Great work!

Look, it’s scrabble balatro, what more could you want?

I’ve seen other games try to pull off the concept, but this is the only one that does it RIGHT. Marathon mode is the most fun imo. Wish there was a mode where names and proper nouns were allowed.

Fantastically fun & well made

Single player scrabble packaged as a roguelite. A surprising amount of depth with a nice soundtrack, visuals & sfx which makes playing even more satisfying. A great game for commuting & passing the time; not to mention a good brain trainer!

Balatro meets Scrabble

It doesn’t quite have the same level of character and charm that Balatro does, but it’s a fun take on the genre (is Balatro-like a genre now? Because it feels like this is far more specific than “roguelike deck builder”)

Great game

Would be cool to see a list of words played in a game. Or perhaps a history of games.

Very fun game!

I like word games, so it's no surprise that I gravitated to this game. I've been thinking about getting it on Steam but thankfully he came out with the mobile version. I've just been playing it on the trial version, so IDK if the full version has this. But I would love to see a list of my longest words instead of just the longest word plus the highest scoring word. Maybe just like a Top-10 Longest Words to date list or something similar. Would be cool to brag to my friends about it lol

Balatro meets wordle

Nice slow pace for a fun challenge

Excellent and addictive

Played it on desktop where it was great but on mobile it’s even better! It’s so easy to pick up again after doing something else. I usually don’t play on my phone but this game makes it worth it. Pricing is also extremely fair.

Brilliant Brain Escape

I’m a big fan of word games and this scratches that itch immensely. I rotate between Scrabble, Boggle, and the likes, and this will definitely be in my rotation for the foreseeable future.

Really Good

Would be 5 of 5 if it supported another languages, like Brasil Portuguese!
