Best in this category so far

Update: I’m up to level 44 and unfortunately there are a lot of repeat categories, and the difficulty really hasn’t increased. Knocking off one star but it’s still much better than others I tried as far as ad balance and chance to actually finish a level without running out of moves.

One of the hugely popular games in this category drew me in with their ads and I enjoyed it at first, but the bloom quickly wore off as it was often impossible to finish a level without paying or watching multiple ads to get extra moves.

Today I came across this one and it’s so much better thus far: I haven’t run out of moves in a level yet; ads only come between every few levels but not *during* levels; the ad interface is standardized so they’re easy to mute and the X to close always shows up in the same spot, and is large enough to tap without accidentally tapping the ad and leaving the app.

This developer Etermax actually has two word solitaire games where the actual gameplay seems to be identical (exact same categories and cards in the first few levels at least), but they have different skins. That’s not a complaint; this one appears geared towards people who just want the solitaire gameplay, whereas the other one has kingdom-building aspects between levels. This one also does not have background music which I mute in most games anyway, so I will probably stick with this one and delete the other.

I do hope that the categorization difficulty increases as I progress through the levels, as it was the trivia aspect that originally intrigued me in this genre. But overall, this is the one that suits me best so far.
