write About is a great app for kids over 7 it can help your child learn to type and spell I recumend this app to all!
Doesn’t work
Just downloaded the app and the “back” button doesn’t work once you’re in an image to write. The voice recording also doesn’t seem to save anywhere. Very buggy.
Ad for App in App
I like all the features in this app. My biggest complaint is how large the app tagline is on a saved document. It looks like an advertisement. I wouldn't expect to see such a tacky tagline on a paid app.
Great Teaching Tool
This app is versatile, motivating and really productive for generating written work. Using keyboarding, voice, sharing features and a wonderful variety of engaging prompts!

This app provides so many options for kiddos. I have used it with second and third graders and they all have enjoyed creating stories!!!
Fantastic App
As an elementary school librarian, I work with all students in K-5, and co-teach with classroom teachers. We have found that this app, along with Tell About This have been very beneficial for our students in determining whether or not they can follow a prompt. It works with all grade levels due to the audio feature available for younger students. We create custom prompts that support our State learning targets. These can include all subject areas. They are great to add to student e-portfolios and quickly & easily share with parents so they can see what their children are accomplishing.

Terrible
I got this app to fight writers block, I loved that there were multiple kinds of prompts, but none of them differ. I do not get random ones based off of animals, I get the same each time. Please don't waste you money on this crap.
Write About and Amazing app
This would be the best app I have. Such a wonderful inspiration to get children writing, especially boys. I love the way ypu can Customise it too.
Great app except....
This is a great writing app. It provides pictures and prompts. The only issue I have had with the app is you can not save unfinished work. When you exit the app and save your writing you can not edit your writings later.

As a writer this app is a great tool for instant writing prompts to use when one is stuck or low on inspiration. This app is also great as an educational tool.
WOW! Creative, Fun, and Educational!
I love this app as both an educator and a parent! As the Elementary Technology Specialist for a school district, I love that the app allows you to switch to different prompt levels. This allows for differentiation and it also encourages a variety of writing genres. My own children enjoyed the recording feature and loved to record their story and listen to it again and again. Plus, the beautiful pictures inspired creative writing ideas.

Motivating!
I just wrote a story with my daughter, we had tons of fun, you can add audio and publish your work for others to see. I recommend it for writers.

This app has changed the way my classroom views creative writing! Say goodbye to writers block...now I have to tell them to stop writing! The app is very easy to use and the ability to take a photo to create your own prompt is great. My favorite feature is the ability for students to save their work and share by email. There is nothing better then hearing praises from proud parents when they receive an email from their child with a copy of their creative writing! This is a must have app!

Creativity+CommonCore=Awesome
I've been showing this app to teachers throughout our district because it really is the perfect way to get kids writing. They love the images that go with the prompts…something about that added visual is so powerful. Lower elementary teachers are appreciative of the audio prompts and everyones mind starts racing with ideas when they see the ability to create your own prompts with images from the iPad. We use shared iPads and this allows for more than one student to write, store and share their written responses on the device. Many teachers are having the students email the final drafts to them.
I mean cmon, more than 300 prompts for 3 bucks.. plus the open ended nature of the tool.. awesome! So easy to align with the CCSS, especially for narrative. Some persuasive opportunities as well. In the future I'd love to see a gallery where students can share their writing with a wider audience. But overall this is just quality stuff that is often lacking on the expanse that is the EDU app store.

Gets students excited to write!
Write About This has been a wonderful app for my third grade classroom! My students were engaged and they were able to use the app and explore its features independently. It is a tool that individual students can use as a Daily 5 station, or that an entire class can use as a whole group writing activity. It has also been useful for students who finish other work and need something meaningful to do. My students were able to browse amazing photos, choose prompts for writing, type their responses, and save their documents in a location that is easily accessible. The love taking pictures and creating their own prompts. I noticed them completing these tasks without any of my own instruction because they were motivated and engaged. I found they were able to type their responses at nearly the same rate as they would have been able to write them, and they tend to choose this option. There is also an awesome feature that allows students to share their writing (email to parents).
I also use this application in the whole group setting with my document camera. If there are 10-20 minutes to fill, Write About This provides interesting pictures and prompts that encourage students to write. We are able to conduct a search for specific topic or browse through categories that seem interesting. Although we complete other writing projects throughout the week, I love the way that this app encourages students to get their creative ideas on paper. Our "brain drains" have led students to experiment with new techniques in their writing after they hear examples from their classmates.
With each prompt, there are three levels of difficulty that encourage differentiation. We tend to choose level 2 or level 3 which at times require a deeper level of thinking. Write About This provides excellent opportunities for the students in my class who are already writers and it provides a spark for those students who tend to struggle. I'm definitely a fan!
