Has this app stopped being updated?
This used to be a great resource for anyone wishing to become a writer - be that a novelist, short story writer, journalist or any other writer - and now when I go to open the app it just shuts down without opening. I noticed the app itself hasn’t been updated in 6 months and I’ve not used it in longer than that - because other aspects of life interfered and my writing mojo went the way of the dodo for a long while - but now I go to look something up and I can’t open the app. Is this happening to anyone else, or just to me?

The ultimate writing resource
I’ve recently started taking my writing seriously and decided to invest in a magazine for some professional help.
Writing Magazine exceeded all of my expectations. It has a lovely warm community feel to it, with pages and pages of inspiring advice that really motivate me to try new things with my writing.
I’ve started to pick out some of their competitions to enter in the coming weeks. A real goal for me to work on.
I’m thinking of taking one of their online courses next!

My Subscription Renewal Has Not Been Honored
In December, I paid for a full year renewal through Apple. You, the magazine publisher, have NOT honored the renewed subscription.
I paid my renewal, you have BREACHED the contract. You will likely blame this on Apple. But you own this problem.

Why the format change?
Writing magazine was only recently awarded best digital magazine of the year. Why would the developers then decide to change the one thing that made them great? Before developers made use of scrolling and large letters that you could actually read. Now they have replaced that with tap and zoom or some sort of launch article view. This latest update is a mess and really makes me sad. Please reverse this decision. The scrolling feature is what set writing magazine apart from other digital magazines. Please bring it back!

Used to buy, now won't bother
Brilliant Magazine but
You are not eligible for the discounts through the app. So I will have to unsubscribe and subscribe through the website.
You will not be a full subscriber if you purchase this app
If you just want to read the magazine then great, I can't fault it.
However if you want to enter any competitions then before you subscribe via the app realise that you do not count as a full subscriber and so will be unable to enter subscriber only competitions or be eligible for the subscriber discount.
They say, in small print, on the website:
"please note due to our apps being managed by a third party company, customers are not eligible for Writing Magazine subscriber benefits and offers."
They should have said this on the app description. They should have been up front so people will know what they are getting.

Writing Magazine
I love this magazine. Full of interesting articles about all facets of writing and genres. I always find something relevant to my current project and I've even tried some different forms of writing in an article just to expand into new areas, or rediscover the joy of a hints I'd forgotten.

I love this magazine. I read it all the time.

I like it overall, easy to navigate between pages and sections. My only quibble is that the text could be a bit larger.

All anyone would ever want or need to know regarding the written word, it's publication, creation and legacy together with plenty of insight about the people who matter, us.
Good update
A worthwhile update. I had problems with the previous version which on more than one occasion froze on me. Each time I had to delete and reinstall then download the complete series. It got worse because it made me pay again for some editions. The update is more stable with no crashes to date. I can purchase a new issue on one device and a 2nd device will recognise the purchase only requiring a 2nd download. A nice touch is read whilst downloading and you then don't have to twiddle your thumbs waiting for the download to complete. In summary an overdue update which enhances the user interface significantly. Well done to the developers.

What was wrong with the Old App?
This is a massive backward step from the old app. I don't see why it needed changing. The new app is clunky and awkward, a waste of time. Stick to the old one.
Also, if you change to this app you'll have to download all your old issues again; what an absolute waste of time!
