Surplus of Ads Ruin what used to be a 5-Star App

This used to be a great 5-star app that was extremely helpful, lightning-fast, and so simple to understand, use, and navigate. It initially had a minimal number of ads that were short, easy to skip, didn’t block or detract users from viewing the important content of important and critical info in time-sensitive situations like severe weather, major traffic incidents, dangerous events, and other life-threatening situations. That praise and those exemplary qualities of your app no longer exist because WSMV has allowed ads to ruin a formerly great tool that once was leaps & bounds ahead of the competition.

The over overwhelming proliferation of poorly managed, intrusive, illogically placed ads over the past few years combined to morph your proven successful frontrunner app into a product that many former followers have abandoned because it has changed so dramatically from the most useful tool in our cluttered toolboxes. It’s simply NOT the go-to station of choice among folks who need to quickly and easily launch an app and quickly navigate the maze of distracting, poorly placed, time-wasting ads to stay abreast of life-threatening, important, critical, need-to-know details that would and could be so valuable and useful in emergency situations. Lives are frequently at risk in many situations, but we can no longer rely on your app to be of any use to us even in noncritical, routine daily life. Your once meaningful app simply is too hard to navigate through so many ads and broken links that interfere with our repeated attempts to get to the details and what’s important to your hungry, time-challenged users. Why don’t your emergency notifications that so frequently pop onto our screens fail to take users directly to the correct story, photos, or videos related to the disruptive popups? Why are there up to a dozen or more irrelevant ads and links so illogically placed between the actual headline and the beginning paragraph?

Well, enough rambling. We’re frustrated and disappointed that we’ve seen your app fall so far downward from atop the pedestal into a crowded group of competitors well below. We’ve had to find a suitable app to replace your formerly top-ranked app. We still check back frequently with hopes of seeing vast improvements in your app, but we’re dismayed by the continuing level of decline. We would be so pleased if we could quickly spot a valiant effort by the great staff and senior WSMV 4 management team to fight its way back into the top spot as the app of choice when concerned, discerning, anxious users can once again place their trust in your important app. We all need you to guide us safely through these turbulent times when every second counts!
Thank you.

Too many spam notifications

This is supposed to be a weather app but you get more notifications about other things and have no way to turn them off. I want notifications about weather events not about the color of fireworks.

Great

This app is great it tells the truth most of the time and has fun warrings that can really keep you on your toes and make you think twice .Anyway i recommend it deeply .You can learn stuff that you would not if you did not have this amazing experience on this wonderful app. The reason how I found this app was I said Tuesday is going to be 66° and sunny but then she looked on her Weather app and it said almost the complete opposite so that is how I found this amazing weather app that I totally recommend to you. If you do not have a reliant Weather app you should totally get this. I am not a Weather app freak but I do know one thing that this is better than most weather apps that you can find like the one that comes on your phone when you first get it that one is not super great. Like I said, I do not know much about this kind of stuff, but my mom says it is better than most which I believe is true in my opinion so if you were really looking for a Weather app, this one should be the one for you

Weather radar too fast

The weather radars have all been changed in that the Past radar goes by too quickly. It used to pause at the current time’s radar return before repeating the cycle. Now it flies by that and returns to the beginning of the cycle. No time to study the map unless manually pausing it.

Keeps going down

The app can be difficult to navigate. Trying to get current local news can be difficult.. Someone loves some generic news channel that has nothing to do with Nashville. The app is not in sync with the news in the morning. I hope they’re not paying good money for somebody to put this together.

App

Great

Love the Weather, Not the Warning Spam

I really love the radar—it’s consistently more accurate and up to date than many other apps I’ve tried. Unfortunately, the notifications are a major downside. I only have a few very specific alerts turned on, yet I keep receiving notifications for things I’ve disabled. If the notification issues get fixed, I’m happily back on Team WSMV4.

Channel 4 is lucky

When I found out that Bree Smith was coming to channel 4 I was so happy. I was watching TV the other day and I saw where a woman had said that she was it was like Bree was in your living room with you. That is true she puts it in terms that everyone can understand. I would never watch another channel when she was on channel 5 now I only watch channel 4. She’s a very caring and thoughtful person.. Before she came to channel 4. I would watch her on Facebook. Bree and Hunter are an asset to any station. They are in sync and I hated when both of them left. I didn’t understand Bree leaving but I do now. Way to go channel 4 hiring two of the best people in the business.. Hunter and Bree I love the both of y’all. Y’all make me laugh. As a senior citizen that stays home you two are my entertainment and thank you channel4 for bringing them back together!!

Very nice

News is reported as soon as it happens..

Inconsistency

The app is eh. The only issue I have is the inconsistency it's information is with what the meteorologist say on the tv. Ex: we're supposed to have 30% chance snow showers for Friday according to what they're saying on tv and the app says 15%. It also just shows a cloudy day instead of snow. Which what they say on tv seems more accurate than the app. I don't keep the app around on my phone but only alert days.

The panic show

What a non serious weather app for Tennessee. Tells you nothing but keeps you in suspense and state of fear. Also, the most junk ads on it that are dishonest. Boy the local weather has really gotten desperate to pay these hucksters that call themselves meteorologists. Just use apple westher. Just as good.

Just too much

I use weather apps for the weather forecast. I do not use them for useless factoids. If you get this app, go ahead and plan for useless information coming through your notifications. No thank you, deleting the app. I really don’t care that local humans are running this app. They also pull the notification trigger WAY too much.

Very buggy now

App closes and jumps around making it harder to use or even want to now .

Awesome

Saved my life Twice.

Not impressed with app

I recently moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio. I found the WLWT app to be very user friendly and easy to navigate. I find the First alert 4 weather app not as user friendly. When trying to scroll down if you accidentally touch the wrong area on the page the page collapses into a list of 4 or 5 smaller boxes. Once there the only way I’ve found to get back to the main page is to close the app and reopen. Very annoying!

HATE THIS APP

This app used to be good but for some reason someone thought it would be a good idea to get rid of the daily and hourly lists and go to stories… HATE THAT!!! I come to the app for each thing… hourly and daily so I can plan my day. Don’t want a story just what I need! Deleting this app.

Great App.... Just Wish I could have it back.

WSMV has THE BEST LOCAL radar and pinpoint accuracy for tracking storms in the Nashville area. Sadly, my app doesn't work. It's been corrupted and no updates for it on my device have been allowed for it since 2024. Big overlay issues... I think someone linked the app to the website and now it just doesn't behave correctly. Tried to reach out to Channel 4 directly, but to no avail. Been watching since I was a kid... and things like this make me miss Bill Hall and wish for simpler times.

Good

I got the app because I watch the WSMV 4 news channel
There’s only one thing I don’t like about this app.
Randomly there will be some map key or something like that and it will pop up and I don’t know how to get out of it so I just kill the app and reopen it
But overall it’s good, easy to understand, and reliable.

I just LOVE my 4 First Alert Weather Team
They were telling us about a Tornado Warning before the Weather Service System had given the Warning

Fulfilling a need
