About

WXCON — Irish Weather Threat Console WXCON transforms Met Éireann weather warnings into a military-style threat assessment console. Inspired by Cold War-era command systems, it presents Ireland's real-time weather situation through a retro CRT terminal interface — complete with phosphor glow, scanline effects, and monospaced readouts. THREAT BOARD The main screen displays Ireland's current national threat condition — GREEN, YELLOW, ORANGE, or RED — mapped directly from active Met Éireann warning levels. A pulsing alert indicator shows the current status at a glance. Current conditions including temperature, wind, and sky state are displayed alongside a 3-hour outlook, so you always know what's coming next. Active warnings are listed with full detail including type, severity, and valid periods. COUNTY STATUS Every county in Ireland is displayed in a grid showing its individual warning status. Counties under active warnings are colour-coded by threat level with tinted backgrounds and highlighted borders. Tap any county to open a detailed briefing showing the full threat assessment — including every active warning with issue times, valid periods, and descriptive text. HOURLY FORECAST A 48-hour local forecast based on your current location, presented in a clean two-line format showing time, sky conditions, precipitation, temperature, and wind for every hour. Hours with rainfall are highlighted with a blue tint for quick visual scanning. Day separators keep the timeline readable. COMMS LOG A chronological record of all warnings received during your session. Every warning that comes through the system is logged with its full text, severity, issue time, and valid period — giving you a complete history of the weather situation as it develops. HOME SCREEN WIDGET Add a CRT-styled widget to your home screen for an at-a-glance threat readout. The widget shows your county's current warning level with phosphor glow and scanline effects, colour-coded from GREEN through RED. Active warnings are listed individually in their threat colour so you can see exactly what's active without opening the app. FEATURES Real-time Met Éireann warning data with 15-minute automatic refresh National threat level assessment from GREEN through RED All 26 counties individually tracked with per-county warning breakdown 48-hour hourly local forecast with precipitation highlighting Home screen widget with county-level threat display Automatic location detection within Ireland (falls back to Dublin) Two phosphor colour themes: classic green and amber Full CRT terminal aesthetic with scanlines and glow effects Offline status detection No accounts, no ads, no tracking DATA SOURCES Warning data is sourced directly from Met Éireann's public warning feed. Forecast data is provided by Open-Meteo. WXCON does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Location is used only to provide a local forecast and county-specific widget, and never leaves your device. WXCON is built for anyone in Ireland who wants to stay on top of weather warnings without the clutter. Whether you check it once a day or keep it open during a storm, the threat board gives you the situation at a glance. Stay informed. Stay alert. Monitor your conditions.
