About
Xingwei is a complete astronomy-focused iOS application designed for deep-sky observation records and community discussion. The app is built natively with UIKit and Swift, using a tab-based structure that includes Home, Records, Upload, Community, and Profile sections. Its core experience centers on helping astronomy enthusiasts browse, document, and discuss real observation materials, including nebulae, meteors, noctilucent clouds, red sprites, and other transient sky events.
The project contains a rich set of seeded observation data, with real public media URLs, capture notes, equipment details, exposure settings, locations, seeing conditions, likes, and visible comment threads. Users can browse public records as guests, while signed-in users can create local drafts, submit observation uploads, publish community posts, reply to discussions, and report problematic observations or comments. Before publishing, submissions pass through a local moderation precheck that validates content completeness and screens risky keywords, with published items designed to enter a server-side review workflow.
Beyond the iOS client, the codebase includes a lightweight Python backend that provides API endpoints for authentication, observations, posts, comments, banners, reports, moderation prechecks, and image uploads. It also includes an official website, privacy policy, terms pages, and an admin web panel for managing banner content across app sections. Automated unit and UI tests cover important flows such as registration, login, draft saving, upload review, community replies, report submission, safety center access, static policy pages, and localized app naming.
Overall, Xingwei is positioned as a practical, extensible deep-sky journal and astronomy community platform, combining observation documentation, real media references, discussion, moderation, reporting, and operational tooling into one coherent product prototype.
