My subscription ends Jan 22nd 2019, and the app has thrown me out in December 2018!
I have been member for several years and now i cannot access copies in previous years that i have paid for!
Not recommended if you want to look back at earlier articles or read at a later date. Ripped off!

Horrible app
Great magazine, horrible app and customer service. Magazine says there is a multi-hull special, but nothing is available. Email sent to customer service, no response. Multi-hull special becomes available a month later... February magazine appears, not available for viewing. Email to customer service, no response...

Great magazine. Truly terrible app
This is a great sailing magazine. I have subscribed for a decade and love the printed copy.
This app is a totally different matter. It is incredibly poorly structured. The launch screen says “subscribe now”, yet I have been a subscriber for years and am already “signed in”. This months magazine is available to preview, but I am unable to download it. Yet I can read last month’s magazine in full. Why? There are other publication apps that are terrific. The Economist is a great example. Intuitive and simple to use. Sadly Yachting World is not one of them.

App needs work
First let me say that I love Yachting World Magazine. The editorials, reviews and news is first rate. Unfortunately, this new app is not as good as the old version. My experience has been that the app will not keep/ maintain your page when you leave the app. This is frustrating if you’re trying to keep your place in an article. Also, the news feature under the “latest” tab is not very useful. Most people get their sailing news quickly from social media platforms such as twitter, Facebook or news sources. If you don’t believe me just look at the daily feeds from the Volvo Ocean Race first on Facebook then, later in the day, on YouTube. The YW app should remove the latest tab as it does not contain timely content, slows the opening speed of the app and is redundant in that what content is there has been covered elsewhere. YW should use their Facebook page to push their magazine and YT video content such as their awesome articles, news commentary (such as an engaging discussion on the Scallawag -sic issue) and boat reviews. The app should just be an easy way for digital subscribers to access the magazine with a fast, user friendly tool. Thanks for the great content.

Don't do the update
After updating the app years of archived magazines disappear and when you try to redownload some of the special issues are no longer available.
Attempts to contact the magazine only result in form letter responses that do not address the questions.
The new version seems to assume that readers live in a world with constant internet access which is a bit odd for a sailing magazine where hopefully some of the readers stray beyond the yacht club bar.

Superlative
There are sailing magazines and then there's Yachting World. The concise writing, the informative regular and featured articles, the vivid photography and impactful format all exude sailing smarts. Good stuff indeed.

Update 11/27/14: back from 3 to 5 stars as I just got prompted to download an update to "Decemeber" issue which is only 63Mb and the legibility problems seem to be resolved!
Update 11/26/14: from 5 to 3 stars for readability as there are resolution problems with the December 2014 issue: +200 Mb download (2x - 3x larger than any prior issue) but much of the editorial text is fuzzy now, even when magnified. Needs better digital publishing QC. I contacted publisher's manager of digital editions and have received a response to try download again, but problem is still there. resolved.

Subscribed a month ago and I still don't have an issue. Waste of hard earned money.

Solid app. Ergonomic controls. No lag. Only suggestion is to keep on keepin on YW.

I subscribed over a month ago and have yet- despite emailing customer service- been able to read an issue. Maybe I should have gone thru Zinio or get this some other way. Very very disappointed!

Very pleased
I've been a long time subscriber of Yachting World.... about 4 years. It is -in my opinion- the best sailing periodical (although very Euro-centric). I've switched to the digital version because of my travel schedule. While I prefer the printed version, I enjoy the convenience of having the latest version within reach regardless of my whereabouts.
The iTunes reader is not as good as "Zinio" , the Euro reader (have I spelt that correctly?)
Overall, very pleased - worth the price.
