YAGT is a free guitar and bass tuner for iPhone and iPad, built for steady, trustworthy readings—even on low, wound strings. Choose a standard, drop, open, or alternate tuning—or build your own. Pluck a string and see exactly how sharp or flat it is. CHECKED TWICE YAGT double-checks every sound before moving the tuner. If those checks disagree, a third on-device check helps settle it before YAGT confirms the note. That helps prevent jumps to a harmonic or the wrong string, especially on low, wound strings. GUITAR AND BASS Support for 6-string guitar and 4-string bass, with detection tuned for each instrument. Bass uses a longer listening window and lower frequency range to reduce harmonic jumps on wound low strings. SMART STRING DETECTION Auto-detect identifies the most likely string and keeps the display stable. Tap any string to select it manually. Custom tunings sit alongside the presets and stick around between sessions. RESPONSIVE METER A smooth, responsive meter with cents readout shows how sharp or flat the string is. Color shows how close the current reading is; the surrounding green glow appears only after an in-tune reading is confirmed. LIVE PITCH HISTORY The five-second history graph shows the readings behind the tuner alongside YAGT's trusted result. Gaps show when YAGT holds back, and old readings scroll away during silence instead of looking current. HAPTIC FEEDBACK A subtle tap fires only after an in-tune reading is confirmed, so you can tune by feel without staring at the screen. TUNING COMMENTARY Short, tongue-in-cheek comments react to how close you are. Messages stay steady for each string and cycle through the full set before repeating. Turn them off any time in Settings. GUIDED STRING PROGRESS Lock onto a string and optional Auto-Progress can move through the tuning after each trusted in-tune confirmation. Choose a quick, standard, or deliberate hold time. It stops after the final string without wrapping around, and an optional Keep Screen Awake setting prevents dimming while you tune. HOME SCREEN QUICK ACTIONS Choose four favorite tunings for YAGT's Home Screen menu. Long-press the app icon and jump straight into Standard, Drop D, a bass setup, or one of your custom tunings. ADJUSTABLE REFERENCE PITCH Set A4 anywhere from 400–480 Hz to match pianos, recordings, or other instruments. NOISE CALIBRATION One tap measures room noise and sets the microphone gate. Use Settings or press and hold the tuner screen to recalibrate when the room changes. A manual sensitivity slider provides fine control. Calibration reduces quiet background interference but cannot distinguish an instrument from speech, television, or another pitched sound. CUSTOM BACKGROUNDS Choose a photo from your camera roll. Adjust opacity, pinch to zoom, drag to reposition. Lock it in place once you've got it framed so the meter can't be nudged mid-tune. Share YAGT, follow @yagt.app, or email support from Settings.
