"Yahoo News" needs to change their name to "Yahoo Ads"
The amount of contempt the devs show towards the user's of their app when it comes to displaying ads is truly impressive. Multiple moving gif and video ads advertising different products on the same screen make it impossible to read news articles. The app is trash.

I’ve noticed lately that there are stories that come directly from YouTube or TikTok without any realization that the story is a skit made up from a content creator. It’s entertaining, but not real. Most political stories are extremely one sided. Even some tragic nonpolitical stories miss critical information. The app works well, but the contents are not “news.”

Long Time User
Not sure if I can give it zero stars. I started using Yahoo News when it was Artifact, which I loved. Now it gets worse every day. As of today,any time you scroll down an article, it goes right back to the top. Net to contact support? Well you can leave feedback, but don’t expect anyone to get back to you. I would like this to get better and return to its beginnings.

Data Tracking NIGHTMARE!!!
So what does it cost to read a story on Yahoo? All of your privacy. This app tracks EVERYTHING!!! If you don’t allow it to, you can’t use it. The app literally says if you don’t allow it to you must use the website because the app can’t be used if you don’t let it “personalize” your experience. At some point people we need to stand up and say no to the enormous amount of tracking going on around us!!! I have deleted this piece of privacy garbage. Only gave it 5 stars so it doesn’t get buried in the comments.

Deeply Disappointed
At some point, my app use preferences reset from, “don’t track me, don’t sell my info, generic ads only” to “Yes, Monetize everything you can, target me with ads based on my news reading history and location.”
I tried to return to “generic ads, no tracking, no sale of my personal info” and a pop up tells me I can no longer use the App!

Need an update?
The app is very useful. For the desktop version, a country of origin for the folks that decided to comment on stories should be added next to their names. I’ve seen way too many using AI to translate just to rile people for responses.

Where’d the mini games go?
Recently had downloaded the app and was enjoying it, especially the solitaire roadtrip and the daily mini crossword. Woke up one morning and poof they were gone. Then I deleted the app. As a news app it is okay, the games kept me coming back.

It crashes all the time. Takes up too much space and is beyond frustrating.

I ask simple yet pointed questions about liberal policies. I challenge the logic. And point out the hypocrisy. Apparently Yahoo does not like this, and I am unable to respond to the liberal echo chamber that has become all too obvious in the comment section. And the liberal slant of news perspectives by Yahoo is never objective.

Targeted Ageist Adds
I liked this news app. A lot. I eventually removed it from my phone due to all those weird dementia, memory loss, viagra, hearing aids, c pap, etc adds that were accompanied by most disgusting, grossest imaginable images. And when I turned off data sharing in settings, I received a message stating that I must keep data sharing on if I want to continue using the app. I opted to simply delete the app.
