Works, but not well
1. Navigating the app/ website in general can just be difficult. Some headings or subheadings which it feels like should be able to click on don’t, and ways you navigate in other similar social apps aren’t the same, it just isn’t as intuitive as it could be and can be a pain to use correctly. The drafts feature is clunky and doesn’t work well. Navigating posts is a lot of scrolling that will lose your spot as attachments load. Posts can have a theme/ subheading, but (as far as I’ve found on the phone app, I think you can on the website) you can’t sort by that subheading to just see posts there. It’s clunky and not that intuitive at times.
2. Maybe more specific to my professor, but for posting videos longer than 1:30 (the longest you can record locally in app), it is just difficult to get a file size small enough to post a 3-5 minute video. The only way I’ve been able to record and post a video longer than 3 minutes is using Photo Booth on a Mac. If I’m not around that computer, I’m SOL, and I would post more than a single video but
3. You can’t post more than one video in one post/comment/reply. I get it’s a lot of data transfer, but still a bit annoying. Again, maybe that’s just my professor’s expectations exceeding the app’s abilities, but annoying for something we pay for
4. Even if you record in the phone app, every time I do the app just freezes and I have to close it and lose my progress. And it only records locally to the app, so every time that happens, you lose the video you just recorded
5. When you record on the phone and go to upload it (under 1:30, just like in app), the app will upload the video and then freeze completely in the same way when you go to hit submit. It’s just infuriating when trying to get an assignment in. I recorded the same video 4 times, and then tried to upload 5 more times before logging into the website version to finally successfully upload and post it. It’s just annoying.

Riddled with Ads
Horrible app, for a horrible site.
Great social tool
Be better
Today alone I spent almost 20 minutes just trying to attach a file. It feels like such a waste of time. Every time I submit a post, the app also asks me to leave feedback, but after I do, the prompt never disappears. That makes me wonder if my feedback is even being submitted.
It’s ironic because Mr. Johnson talks about identifying inefficient processes, and Yellowdig feels like a perfect example. Instead of making class discussions easier, it creates unnecessary obstacles and takes time away from actually learning.

Thank you so much for the feedback on simplicity—we are glad you enjoy that! We are sorry to hear about the issues you encountered with saving drafts and the text input/swipe-to-text functionality in version 1.4.30. Losing a draft is unacceptable, and we prioritize fixing these bugs immediately. Since you left this review, we've released version 1.4.32. Could you please check to see if you are on the very latest version? If the draft saving issue still persist in the latest version, please reach out to our support team at support@yellowdig.com so we can gather more details on this issue. Thank you for helping us make our mobile app better for everyone! We look forward to making it better with each update. Sincerely, The Yellowdig Team
