Dreadful
One of the better ones

Thanks for the review!
Amazing 10/10
Yestertide is by far the best game in the bundle. It is very long, difficult and honestly very fun to play. While I did enjoy the other games, this one just hit different.
I saw a few reviews mention how difficult it is and that the website with hints doesn’t help sometimes. I found this to be inaccurate, as I used the hints A LOT. For all the games, but especially for this one. The hints very much gave you the answers directly. I think what trips people up, is that sometimes the hints and/or answers are spread across several sections (questions?) so you have to read 2 or 3 to figure out what to do.
Personally, I enjoyed there being a dedicated website with hints vs in-game hints or having to watch a video. I also appreciated that you could get a simple hint to point you in the right direction, or you could read the entire solution and get the answer. So props to the developer!
The game is difficult to navigate and can also trip you up. However, I personally found it enjoyable. It also was easier for me, as I played 4 other games with the same type of navigation prior to starting this one. I found this one to be way less confusing than some of the other games (talking about you, Beast of Bodkin Hall lol).
I have only been playing point and click games for a little bit, but have been on a huge roll of playing all available. I would definitely recommend this game, and especially getting the bundle with all of them. Albeit, the other games included in the bundle are not nearly as noteworthy as Yestertide regarding length, difficulty, etc.

Wow, we can't thank you enough for taking the time to leave such a wonderful, comprehensive review. We're so happy you loved Yestertide. As you pointed out, it's our longest standalone game, not counting our Bested series, which is divided into chapters across multiple games. Yestertide also took us the longest to develop. A lot went into it, and it's nice to know that that's appreciated. It's also good to hear that you like our hint system. We thought about adding in-game hints several times, but we prefer this system. We're happy you do too!
Great great game

Thanks for your review. We can't really answer your questions very easily here, but we'd be more than happy to do so on our website. You can post on the game posts page for Yestertide or send us an email.
Great Story & Fun!

Thanks so much for the great review! We're hard at work on a new game, which should be out in a couple months.
not intuitive or logical and buggy
A waste of 5 dollars
A Game Worth Playing
Simplistically, the game design is like a “hallway” & you’re opening up “doors” on the right & left side — but, depending on what puzzles you’ve solved, what’s in the “rooms” change. Just because you’ve been there before doesn’t mean there isn’t something in there you need now.
This is one big puzzle adventure game & it actually feels quite long. There are games I’ve played & if it can be beaten in a few hours, you feel ripped off. But not this game. It lasted me a week. & now that I know the quality game my $ buys, I’m happy to explore the rest of their catalog.
The hint guide is really well done. If you’re stuck & just want to be pointed in the right direction, the titles give you a clue w/o spoiling the game.
My only note is there’s a bug in the hot plate puzzle. I never set the dials. I added the ingredients, but never set the temperature & time. The msg wasn’t clear that I’d done it correctly, calling the mixture“slop.” I filled the sprayer expecting when I used it for the game to say “something when wrong, it wasn’t made correctly, etc.” But no. It worked.

Thanks for the great review! And thanks for letting us know about the glitch with the hotplate. Fortunately, as you pointed out, the puzzle still works, it just appears you can skip a step. We’ll get that fixed in the next update.
too difficult
Why did I just find out they released a new game 😭
I love your company’s games truly

Thanks for the great review! It really means a lot.
Wha??
What am I missing??
It’s hard.
Epic point and click adventure!
The art is charming. The writing is funny and fun. The puzzles are creative and challenging and go beyond the usual point-and-click fare in clever inventiveness.
I got stuck sometimes, but they have a terrific hints page that gives you tiny bits of info before the full answer so you can still have the fun of working things out.
Very much looking forward to playing the rest of their games. If you’re a fan of this genre, you should check this out.

Difficult But Fun
Response from developer
Thanks for the great review and for trying another of our games! Hope our hint guide was helpful. In future games, we're working on including more hints within the game itself as well as online.
A classic in the making
Be prepared to bookmark the hints page
great game, wish i could finish (SPOILERS)
still giving it four stars because i really liked the story and it’s been a long time since a point and click has challenged me without being totally illogical. i did use the hint system on their website a few times but the solutions always made sense (well, as much as p&c solutions ever make sense). the navigation was a bit confusing at first but i got the hang of it pretty quickly. i’m really disappointed that i didn’t get to see the ending but i still got hours of enjoyment out of it and i’m really looking forward to mysterycaper’s next game.

Hi - So sorry about the confusion. Did you leave a comment on our hint message board or email us? We always try to answer every hint request, so we're really sorry to hear your message got lost somehow. In any event, we don't normally like to list hints here, but we can make an exception this time. ** Spoilers ** There are two things you need to do before your buddy will relax. Well, actually, three. You've already done one - scared the aliens away. But your friend is concerned they might return, so you need to cut off their access from the lighthouse island. This is done by going back in time to the earliest time zone and knocking the wall down from the hilltop. This will knock boulders into their path so they can't leave without crossing the water - they hate water. You also need to prevent the aliens in the "kennel club" from joining in. This is done by going to the empty house in the latest time period, going upstairs and pushing the bench in the way of the dog door. Hope this helps, and sorry again your message was never received.
