About

YidShrift is the modern Yiddish keyboard for iPhone — built from the ground up to be intuitive and facilitate fast communication. Whether you use klal Yiddish loytn YIVO orthography, or in heymishe Chasidishe krayzn, YidShrift respects and facilitates saying what you want to say, how you want to say it. No more wrestling with Hebrew autocorrect or digging through long-press menus for ale nekudes. WHAT'S INSIDE • Hebrew-script keyboard, optimized for quick Yiddish input • Smart autocorrect that knows Yiddish — not a Hebrew keyboard with a thesaurus • Swipe entry (גליטשערײַ) — glide your finger across letters and YidShrift predicts the word • Customizable keyboard layouts, including "Yiddish-Klal" by Isaac Bleaman and "Yiddish-K" by Larry Kay • QWERTY entry automatically transliterates romanization into yidishe oysyes. • Built-in candidate bar with both word suggestions and emoji • Intuitive orthography settings (YIVO, heymish, and beyond) with fine-grained toggles for various spelling conventions • "Glitsherayke" — a Swipe-Shpil game for sharpening speed and accuracy. Compete with high scores for a spot on the leaderboard. WHO IT'S FOR • Native Yiddish speakers writing to family • Journalists and academics writing in Yiddish • Students learning the language • Anyone who wants to type and chat in Yiddish faster than the system keyboard allows YidShrift is developed by Loshn Logic, an independent project dedicated to building modern tools for Yiddish. PRIVACY Your typed text never leaves your device. The only data we collect is anonymous diagnostic information (crashes, performance metrics) to keep the keyboard fast and stable. No keystrokes, no full sentences, no contact info. Allow Full Access is optional. Without it: typing works, suggestions work, swipe works. With it: anonymous performance metrics help us improve, and (if you choose) you can submit your scores to the Swipe-Shpil leaderboard. Questions, feedback, bug reports? Reach us at the Support URL, or use the contact form in the app. ייִדשריפֿט ווערט אַנטוויקלט פֿון לשון־לאָגיק.
