App does not work
Interesting App
Con: performance issue. Complicated procedure to export your info into the app.
Nice idea, failed execution, useless data, horrific privacy violations
1. It forces you to promote the app on your Linkedin feed before showing you anything. The developer called this “a bug” that would be updated soon.
2. The algorithm is bogus. I added 15 random skills and they all were valued at ~$102k:
- Architect 102k
- Drawing 102k
- Investment banking 102k
- Telephone skills 102k
- Interestingly enough photoshop skills have increased in value $45k in the last 10 days, to 106k. The developer claims this is because somebody likely input an hourly wage instead of annual.
There is nothing behind this “algorithm”. Its just take the average of all users reported salaries as the baseline for each skill and adds some bogus boost factor to certain skills.
3. I wouldn’t have minded the prior issues until i realized the developer took a 100% data archive of my entire LinkedIn history. This isnt some vanilla single sign on that requests some basic profile data like FB. I have a copy of the zip file the developer accessed from LinkedIn and it includes:
- all your contacts, titles, emails, telephones
- all ads u have ever clicked on LinkedIn
- your entire search history on LinkedIn
- all posts you have liked on LinkedIn
- all posts you have shared
- your phone numbers
- your login history
- and get this, your entire LinkedIn Inbox history!!!!!!
This app needs to be shut down immediately.
Response from developer
1. YouWorth does not "force you to promote the app on your LinkedIn feed before showing you anything". That is patently false. Sharing the app on your LinkedIn timeline is *optional* when importing your LinkedIn data. 2. The algorithm is not "bogus". When you wrote this review, we did not have a good process in place on the backend to ensure skills had sufficient salary data before projecting their value. Now, skills enter our system as "candidates" and are not promoted to "first class" skill until they meet a minimum criteria. The 102k value was due to lack of sufficient salary data. 3. We only extract skills, education, positions, profile, and (if you choose) connections from your LinkedIn data archive. Once the extraction is complete, we purge the archive file. Our privacy policy is very clear about how we handle user data: http://youworthapp.com/privacy
Useful app
It asks you to share in linkedin
Response from developer
Yes, seriously. I'm trying to avoid cluttering the app with advertising. You're given a free trial period. After the trial period ends, we ask you to either share the app on your LinkedIn timeline to extend the free trial period or purchase a monthly subscription. I feel like that's a fair exchange.
