Good enough but not perfect
I enjoyed playing through Ys II for the most part. I did have an issue with the controls, however. Whether I used locked pad or slide pad, the direction the game read my input was too sensitive. For example, with locked pad and 8-directional movement, Adol would almost never walk straight in the direction I thought I was moving him in; instead he’d move slightly off center. So if I was moving him to the right, he’d veer off and eventually move diagonally up-right. It’s more obvious with 360 degree movement as you can see that he almost never walks straight but instead veers off slightly.
With the controls the way they are, parts of the game that didn’t give me any issue on PC or console gave me a lot more issues in this version. I played it on easy after experiencing similar issues with Ys I (mobile) on normal. It made aiming especially troublesome. I found that the best control scheme was the slide pad with 8-directional movement but it is still not ideal and Adol would still move unexpectedly, sometimes missing enemies I meant to bump into or being unable to avoid projectiles or aim my fire magic properly.
My device is iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 15.6.1. Touch controls only, I do not have any game controllers synced to my phone.

Needs improvement.
I love Ys but I have been utterly unable to even pass the first boss. Unless you’re rich and have an MFi controller steer clear.
So good
I never thought gaming on iPhone was really possible, this game is so rewarding.
Nope
Love all things Ys, except this (chronicles) port—which I now despise. On a platform with d-pads and buttons chronicles is epic, the mobile ports however (what with having to drag your finger around and/or mash spots in the corners) is unplayable garbage for anyone with hands larger than an eight year old thanks to how easy it is for said actions to obscure ones field of view—which typically results in repeated death during boss fights (to the point of rage).
My review: this/these port(s) should be buried in the desert next to NES ET.

Thank you for bring good memory back
I palyed this many years ago on an old pc. Today the disc can not work on Windows 10 platform. But this IOS version really surprises me by its perfect gaming experience with touch screen.
Sound problem report
There is sound problem on iPad Pro 2, iOS 11.2.6
I can’t hear anything on Game.

Classic
Firstly, of 7$ is too much but paying anything for a rental movie isn't an issue, pass. Secondly, the idea of a game that functions perfectly fine on touch screens controlling poorly suggests a UE (user error). And finally, while the game is 10 years old, it doesn't actually sell cheaper on Steam, but this version actually plays ANYWHERE. If you can find the DS or PSP version for less (and have that system) feel free. But I sincerely doubt you will. At writing, this game is 3$. That's a steal for an actual game with no ads and decent replayability. Does it hold your hand? No, because it's not made for people that are so inexperienced with games that they need to be told how to explore and discover.

Thanks
It was 20 years ago when I played Ys game for the first time. Thanks for bringing that beautiful memory back to me.
Perfect port of the DS version
I've played the Nintendo DS version of the Ys I/II Chronicles, and this is a faithful port of that amazing version. Beautiful graphics and sound (although I prefer the TurboGrafx-16 music over any other version, sad that it was not available as a music option) and lots of fun to play again.
If I could change one thing, it would be to add a FIXED gamepad on the screen. They do have the option for a "fixed pad" but it can be anywhere on the screen. Too much freedom in that has led me to trouble many times, and I know I'm not the only one who had this comment.
Otherwise, brilliant game and I hope they bring some of the other Ys games to iOS! Well done. 😊

Great game, brings back lots of memories, hours of fun! Great port
Must buy
A great game and the fact they brought it to IOS makes it even better.
Great game
This is a Great game it reminds me a little of Zelda and that's OK I like it.
Lots of fun
Played various Ys versions over the years. Very impressed with this classic. I love that they included controller support. Need more Ys games!!
Good RPG Qualities
Great story but lacks in combat with no tutorial leaving me to constant death and no way to fight.
It's amazing but needs improvement
Can you please add a map for both ys chronicles 1&2 and an auto save button? This would make it easier to play this game. Please consider this and make new version with these features.
