Total joke
For how expensive gci is and for them having a monopoly on internet in Alaska, Yukon tv is a tragic joke. Constant outages, poor quality, and awful service.
Unwatchable on IOS
Would take a star away if I could, this app is absolute garbage for IOS. If uou build an app to work on an iPhone, it should work…this doesn’t. Beyond frustrating, just fix it for crying about loud!
So bad, wish we had more options
Tried to watch the Super Bowl on GCI Yukon TV local channel live. It constantly skipped back to earlier already seen footage. Then would stop all together and give error 618 message. Missed a large part of the game. It has done this to some degree for at least the last year or more, generally on live broadcasts and during high usage. Not a WiFi or internet issue because all other platforms such as HBO MAX, Disney, Netflix all work fine. Now I’m Searching for a platform to watch live TV. Only have GCI because of limited options and good price bundle. But considering dumping all GCI service, phone, internet and TV even if I have to pay more…They have had plenty of time to address issues. Contracted out customer service is terrible, they try but they don’t address the problems and there is a communication challenge.

Nothing has changed still a worthless app.
I think the title says it all but just read the reviews for yourself. All factual. And yes..nothing has changed. Why GCI continues to try and support this worthless app for use on their platform, is a complete mystery, only GCI knows but Im sure it has to do with the lowest bidder. GCI you reap what you sow, like the 40 million dollar lawsuit you were forced to pay the US government due to fraud and as many have said; “if I could give negative stars, I would give negatives out to and beyond to infinity.”
The problem for Alaskans wanting local news channels, and since GCI is a monopoly cable provider here in the state providing these local channels, other than putting up an aerial on top of your house, you have no other choice but Yukon TV. Its time for some federal interdiction.
Bottom line:Yukon TV is still worthless nothings changed since its inception.

0 Stars for this one! Most frustrating TV I’ve ever watched. Constantly jumps around in the program you are watching. Tried to watch a football game and for no reason skips back several minutes and then will all of a sudden reset to the beginning of the game. Missed a significant portion of the game because it’s always jumping around. Absolutely terrible!

Since GCI was sold the new owners are cutting cost to maximize profits. It shows in this woefully supported app for Alaska curiously named after a Territory in Canada by our new lower 48 overlords.
It constantly serves up extra ads to viewers for GCI revenue whenever you change channels.
Wanna change channels? Get ready for deja vu. It starts shows over at the beginning of the show you just watched before you changed.

Suckiest app ever
First I can’t even cast this to the tv’s in the house. I wouldn’t have to cast it from my phone if I could find it on the app stores. There are like 4 channels that are worthwhile. Even on my phone it tells me I cannot watch sometimes, too many simultaneous viewers? I’m the only one with the password!?! The app will sometimes go black when you turn phone to watch it on a full screen? And if you want to use your phone for other things you cannot watch TV at the same time, in a smaller screen like most streaming apps. Really horrible app!

Seriously, this is absolutely horrible
Had trouble with logging in all the time, recording errors and I wasn’t even recording, freezing up, buffering, you name it, it did it, even told me I could not stream and I was on Yukon tv app, live tv. GCI said the problem was the old router and to get the new one with a modem. I did. Set it up and for the past 2 hours, it has frozen up and buffered EVERY 8 MINUTES. Well, first I get Yukon and disappointed, got the router and still disappointed. What’s that old saying “Fool me once, shame on you, twice, shame on me. GCI wasn’t completely truthful and between Yukon tv and GCI, I am looking for a new internet service. And they charge way too much for JUNK! Would have given it no stars, but to write a review I had to. Actually it’s rating in my book is -100!
UPDATE: Dropped Yukon tv AND GCI. Sooo happy SAVED MONEY, around 75.00 a month and I get more channels, faster internet, wonderful. SWITCH NOW

A so-so Alaska TV app named after a Territory in Canada
This app has gotten better over the past year but is still woefully under supported and not prime time ready.
It’s full screen only - so you can watch the app but that’s it - can’t do any multi tasking.
GCI has gone downhill since it was acquired by a larger company without Alaska roots —

Somehow still doesn’t work
Still freezes. Still won’t change channels without hanging up. Still makes you log back in often. Overall still no improvements after all this time. It’s like they go out of their way to keep it busted.
Useless
The app, and Yukon TV in general are absolutely terrible. I cannot begin to count the number of times I have had to reset Apple TV or reset the app or re-login as many as six times a day. disconnect things and reconnect things just to get them to work. then let’s not forget, logging into and purchasing every single plan. I particularly love taking five minutes out of my day to scroll up and down for the local channels and the premium channels. That’s a smart move. let’s not forget about the buffering. What frustration wouldn’t be complete without a little buffering, right… but not a little like all the time every time you change channels.

Keeps going back to beginning
I’m trying to watch a World Cup soccer game, but the app jumps the game back to the beginning with no way to fast forward. I have to change the channel and the go back to the original channel. I’ll get live action for about 10 seconds, and then it will jump back to the beginning. This happens over and over and over and over. So frustrating! This has also happened on the TV, but not nearly so frequently. We are so frustrated with Yukon TV!

Costs more than what was quoted and locks up constantly. I’ve never experienced a service that was so poorly executed in my 40 years of life on this rock. My day is ruined and my disappointment in immeasurable.

Still awful
Every. Single. Day. We have to unplug the TV or fire stick because of some error or it freezes up continually. Getting error messages like playback error while watching LIVE TV. I haven’t ever even tried to record a show. Getting tech support is non existent. They have me repeat the steps I have already done and tell me to call back if it continues. My elderly MIL can’t navigate and has no idea what to do. This is an awful product, the bugs should be worked out by now. We have had GCI for our home and business and when the business contract is over so are we.

Worst streaming service
I hated GCI service and now since they switched to the Yukon TV it is even worse. I can stream on other services such as Disney Paramont Amazon and Netflix with no problem but I can hardly watch what is streamed on Yukon. I would cancel the service except that I need to block off a couple hours in order to get through

Horrible
If I could avoid using GCI, I would. The recording controls are inconsistent, shows are not easily set up. Not user-friendly, have to log in way too frequently even though bills have been paid. This is what no real competition for local channels does.
Complete junk
This app is trash. It freezes, won’t load, picture quality is terrible, logs you out for no reason at all, there’s no way to switch easily between channels, I could go on and on. The most frustrating part is that GCI doesn’t care at all and they sure as heck don’t address the issues or how to resolve them. Wait times for customer service are well beyond what any human should have to endure. Time to ditch this overpriced crapola.

Terrible Experience
I switched to Yukon during the original internal beta test. The User Interface has seemingly never been updated in 2 years. It badly need a professional update. Accessibility is a glaring issue.
Also the cost of the subscription service is way too high to be justified in an age where better streaming services exist.

Terrible Program
After an upgrade I had to have the service refreshed. Hours later it remains completely unusable without any clear answers from support.
