Yummly

AWSOME SITE - LOVE THE VARIETY of recipes from all over the world and the way they’re organized and easy to follow! Most of the recipes I tried turned out very tasty!

Love it!

Helps me discover a TON of new recipes that my family loves!

Thanks for the great update.

Constant log in problems since last update. All my saved recipes are gone. Thanks .

Meal Planner

Used to be a Great App, but now since the new update the Meal Planner is LOCKED! 😡

vegan and recommending me non vegan meals

why ask me my dietary restrictions if you’re gonna completely ignore it

Meal Plan is locked and I can’t figure out how to pay for it

Would really love to love this app because it looks beautiful and useful, but the Meal Plan feature is locked and I’ve spent 30 minutes trying everything I can think of to pay for the app to unlock it, to no avail. Sort of ridiculous. Super frustrating.

Login with Facebook issues

I love this app and depend on it pretty heavily, but I had it linked to my Facebook and now the Facebook login feature is unavailable, and I can’t access my yums! I’ve tried with my email as well, but it always redirects to Facebook :(

Hi Chef, It sounds like you were logged into a different account than you had been using. We did not delete your saved recipes, they are saved in our cloud somewhere. If you need assistance finding the account with your saved recipes, please email us at support@yummly.com

Linking any outlook email will result in login failure

This app is a potential minefield so avoid it especially when coming to your outlook 96 hours after my email sign in request still no link in my email address in any of my mailboxes and spam.

Seems good, shame can’t log inventory though

I have been searching lots of apps for meal planning and Inventory logging. This seems the most user friendly when it comes to meal planning, but I’m disappointed there’s no way to log / track expired dates of inventory. I usually cook more than 1 portion and freeze the others, and it would be helpful for me if I could have another list in addition to the shopping list where I can keep a tab on what’s in the freezer, and for how long it’s been there. Mainly in terms of batch cooking rather than individual ingredients though. Otherwise, seems a good app!

Doesn’t filter like it used to

I’ve had Yummly for years, and have added some banging recipes to my repertoire because of it. I open it up, browse some recipes and pictures and see what I want for dinner. But lately the filtering has been complete rubbish. It’s impossible to browse recipes anymore. Click Vegetarian or Vegan, and you see the same 18 recipes, 6 of which have meat. It’s always leant more towards vegan-keto-weirdness, but at least if I put a filter on I wouldn’t be suggest chicken or ribs. No longer! And the cuisine function has disappeared entirely. Why bother even having those button if you’re only going to show one recipe?

No browse, no fun! 😭

30 minutes no!

Amazing and delicious but took more me with prep. Worth it but plan for more than 30 minutes!

Sloppy updates every time

New update INSTANTLY CRASHES BEFORE LOADING. Always issues every update. Will be finding a new app

Hi Chef, The "Ingredients On hand" is meant to act as a one-time filter. It is not really intended to stay on from search to search. If it is turning on mid-search, please let me know at support@yummly.com

My Go-To Grocery App

Honestly worth the money if you're on the fence about paying. Make cooking less of a hassle by adding recipe ingredients to a shopping list, or tailor your experience for whatever diet needs you have. It's also a great way to explore different cuisines.

Only downside is no Chrome integration with adding your own recipes. I have to open a recipe in Safari for it to add to my Yums properly.

Update has made this app frustrating

I didn’t even realize that I’ve written a review for this app before but I’ve been trying to use this app recently and it’s way more difficult to navigate than it used to be. I’ve been using this app forever and recently I tried to log in and all my saved recipes are gone and now when I try and search recipes the majority of them have a little 🔒icon and you can’t access them unless you pay for pro. Then if you attempt to navigate anywhere on the app a screen constantly pops up asking you to pay for a subscription. The app is a good idea and I understand the desire to make more money by having people pay for the app but Jesus if I say I’m not interested, stop freaking asking me. And also don’t show me recipes that I cannot actually access.

OLD REVIEW:

I’ve used this app for a couple of years now and appreciate being able to save recipes and find new things to cool every so often. I don’t use this app as much as I used to simply because every time you open the app it now asks if you want to get Yummly pro. Stop asking me that every time I open the app! It also feels like it crashes more than it used to.

Hi Chef, Thanks for using Yummly and for writing in. I see how intrusive some of these ads are, and I think Yummly will definitely consider tighter controls over what sites can be on Yummly in the future. I would definitely avoid this source in the future, but for your convenience I really suggest checking out the yummly owned recipes. All directions are in-app and ad-free. https://www.yummly.com/recipes?q=meatloaf&guided=true&taste-pref-appended=true

Used it for years

Many years ago I searched for an app with these functions and happily started using Yummly. I don’t use many of the integrated features for scheduling or lists but I have lots of collections and love being prompted by new recipes. I exclusively use this app for my recipe keeping. So thankyou to the developers. I’d be lost without it. Still using it regularly.

It’s ok…. But not what I thought it would be

The app could go miles to become more user friendly. Setting a target temp is… I guess impossible after you set it the first time. Navigating the app is a pain. And if you BBQ, and planned on using it in that application… here are some of the problems you might encounter: most people will download the app on their phone. A lot of people are going to want to walk to an ice chest or fridge filled with cold beer. Some will even want to go to whatever device your listening to your favorite music to make adjustments. Some will want to visit a bathroom from time to time, whether a short break or an attempt to clone the President. All the above won’t be thinking about leaving your phone behind so it stays connected to the thermometer. THAT ALONE makes me want to give one star instead of two. The good news is: there will be vast opportunities for improvement, and if achieved, the bragging rights of how much has been accomplished in the improvement stage will be legendary.

Hi Robby, Some of these issues you have solutions. If you can email us at support@yummly.com I'm happy to walk you through these (like easily changing target temp) and I'd love to hear more feedback about navigating the app in general. Unfortunately, Bluetooth connections do have their limitations as far as range, but we do have a solution that will solve this issue being released in the future.

👍👍

man i loved this app but then it got more popular and you need a subscription for many things you didn’t before and i can’t even get the subscription cause im not in the states 😒

Concept is great but…

The app is extensive and certainly makes searching for recipes that are specific to your tastes, food sensitivities items or allergies, or preferences more streamlined including creating shopping lists that are integrated with where you shop. However, the time you save gets lost when you click on a recipe and it takes you to someone’s rambling blog or an influencer’s blog filled with click bait ads. I just am looking for recipes. I really do not want to read a a 5 page article about it. But I guess that’s how Yummly and the blogs that they point back to make their money. I probably won’t keep it past the free trial. I don’t have time for the fluff. If it was just a recipe only app without the articles, would be better.
