Doesn’t register
I am sorry have to report the prb here. Couldn’t find any Hell or Faq. I am trying registering as a new user through facebook/twitter but it is an unending loop going between the login screen of zakatify and continue/authorize screens of fb/twitter.
Am I doing something wrong?
Response from developer
Version 2.0.8 fixes this issue, please update your app (and thank you for reporting it, would appreciate an upgrade to 5 stars!)
You don’t belong in one of 8 categories
Response from developer
Thank you for your feedback, and for giving Zakatify a try! We certainly value your opinion. Zakat collectors are indeed one of the eight categories of zakat-eligibility set forth in the Qur’an. See Chapter 9, Verse 60. There is no additional obligation that the zakat collector also be a zakat distributor. That said, our vetting of zakat-eligible charities and zakat and tax reporting certainly involve Zakatify in that process as well. Rest assured, we have verified our interpretation with multiple Islamic scholars and have never had it questioned. Have a blessed rest of the month of Ramadan.
Transparent Sharing
That I can support so many organisations is a huge positive and new way of feeling really good about doing the right thing.
First of its kind
Genius app
Splendid!
Poor Interface and Making Money of Other Peoples Struggles
My thoughts:
-I missed one character in my email address and I didn’t even have the option to correct that.
-We don’t need another middle man taking a bit off the top of our donations
-Zabihah.com, created by this developer, is a directory of restaurants, it is great as it serves its purpose. Zakatify should be a directory and serve its purpose there, instead it’s trying to be an UberEats and sweep into the donations.
-Imagine how many Muslims use Zabihah.com, is all of these people start giving their Zakat through Zakatify you’re talking about so much profit for the developer. Profit that’s being earned off the struggle of others.
-I was interested to try this out, but ultimately with the premise of this app being a comparison between a pillar of our religion and FitBit, it’s not setting out on the right foot.
-In terms of transparency, it was only at the last moment where I found out that 5% of the donation goes to Zakatify and 2.2% to PayPal. This was purposely left out from the App Store and website.
-This comes directly from the agreement for linking your PayPal account to Zakatify:
“Donations are subject to Zakatify platform fees of 5% and PayPal payment processing fees of 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction on charitable donations, and PayPal Giving Fund makes grants to benefitting charities net of those fees.”
Response from developer
Thank you for your comments. Zakatify is a service provider that seeks to make the process of planned zakat giving easier and more secure. One of the eight categories of zakat is earmarked for zakat distributors (see https://www.zakat.org/en/the-eight-kinds-of-people-who-receive-zakat), so the fees are zakat eligible as part of the overall donation, as well as tax deductible thanks to our partners at PayPal Giving Fund. Therefore, and for the first time ever, the fees are a net zero cost to the user since the entire donation amount is both zakat-eligible and tax deductible. Our fees are similar to other charity-related donation platforms, including crowdfunding sites, and in many cases less. We will address the email address issue in a forthcoming build.
