What's New in Zubane

1.7

August 14, 2026

Meet your ustaad. Zubane introduces an AI tutor from Lucknow: write in Hindi-Urdu, any script, even English letters, and every message comes back gently corrected, explained in plain English, translated, and answered, like chatting with a patient native speaker. Choose replies in Roman, Devanagari, or Nastaliq. The tutor asks your consent before the first message, and your conversation is stored only on your device. Five thousand words. The built-in dictionary grows from 1,000 entries to 5,000 — each in Devanagari and true Nastaliq with its meaning, origin, grammatical gender, and the languages that share it. Still works entirely offline. Read the essays in your own language. Every article is now written in Hindi and Urdu as well as English — one Hindustani text in both scripts, set in true Nastaliq. Also new: • Learn to read the scripts: three practice modes in the Scripts tab — a letter drill, a mirror match between Devanagari and Nastaliq, and real words to read — with a quiet meter tracking all 51 letters • Copy anywhere: long-press any tutor message or word entry to copy it, and select text freely on Mac • Better on iPad and Mac: comfortable reading widths, and Return sends your message in the tutor • Clearer pronunciation for the flap letters ड़ / ڑ • Nastaliq lines now get the height they need, so nothing clips where text wraps • A lookup interrupted by switching apps now finishes when you return, instead of stopping on a network error • The privacy policy is now reachable from the About screen • Dozens of refinements: smoother tutor scrolling, larger touch targets, and improved VoiceOver labels

What I’ve wanted for years!

Zubane is the app that I have needed for years. Not only is there an “ustaad” who can interact with and teach you, but there are also really helpful articles. And it can even translate songs!

I love this app and wish I could have had it sooner! I’m finally going to improve my Hindi/Urdu and be able to connect to my culture on a deeper level. It’s clear how much love and effort the developer has poured into this. Looking forward to more updates!
