Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Two Lines at 100% against Music Painter's 64%. Two Lines also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ads (none vs shown). Music Painter's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 54 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Music Painter sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Two Lines asks for nothing beyond the download.
Music Painter holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Music Painter has 24 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Two Lines's written reviews are positive against 64% of Music Painter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Two Lines ships an update every 54 months, Music Painter every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
