FlashWords AAC vs PixWriter Lite

FlashWords AAC is an app for the Early Reading method which is successfully applied in the education of children with Down Syndrome or a delayed development that also affects speech development. FlashWords AAC is available in 2 versions: * FlashWords AAC Pro allows to learn an unlimited number of words. * FlashWords AAC allows only the first 6 words to be learned. An In-App purchase is required to learn an unlimited number of words. FlashWords AAC is based on the concept described in the series Small Steps, Early Reading. This Early Intervention Program was developed by the Special Education Center, at the Macquarie University in Sydney. Under their point of view reading is only a positive side effect. The app contains the basic exercise Learn Words for acquiring new words and five games for consolidating the words. Thousands of speech recordings are provided within the program, but you can also record your own words. The acquired words are collected in a list, which documents the progress made. In order to let multiple players use the app, FlashWords AAC offers a user manager. Individual word lists and settings can be saved and resumed quickly. Note: PixWriter Lite is a free app. It permits one file to be created and edited, but not shared or printed. PixWriter Lite can also receive files created with the PixWriter app. Students can use those files to write, read aloud, and print their own documents. The Lite version can be upgraded to the full version through the in-app Store. PixWriter™ is a picture-assisted writing tool for beginning writers of any age. The combination of symbol support with highlighted text and speech help students write independently. Students can compose written documents without mastering phonics, spelling, and alphabet skills. Students write by selecting word bank buttons, typing with a keyboard, or both. Word bank buttons are filled as the instructor types words followed by the spacebar; symbols are automatically added as words are typed. Customized vocabulary word banks can be created to fit the student’s abilities, assignment requirements, and IEP goals. Documents can be printed, saved, and shared via email and AirDrop. PixWriter Lite is a separate and free app. It can receive, read aloud, and print documents that have been created with the full featured PixWriter program.
