NYC English believes in opening the world to people through English: empowering them, connecting them, and giving them the language skills and confidence to thrive in their careers and life. The app emphasizes listening and speaking using videos and technology that simulate an ‘immersive experience’ – the natural way people learn. It uniquely combines natural conversations and lessons to cover all 6 skills needed to be fluent and confident in English. The award-winning software program is content rich and designed by pedagogic experts. It has three levels, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each level has 30 themes of contextual learning. In total there are over 1,500 exercises,10,000 phrases, and 600 videos of real-life conversations and teaching explanations. Each line of text from the videos can be listened to and read as often as needed. For easy understanding, the lines are also translated into the user’s native language. In addition, key words are introduced for vocabulary, and voice recognition technology is used to practice pronunciation. Easy-to-see progress tracking encourages users to continue to improve. The program is aligned to international standards and is ideal to complement an existing curriculum or for independent self-learning. Praise for NYC English from ComputED Gazette, Best Educational Software Awards: NYC English brings a definitive 21st Century approach to teaching ELL/ESL. Trying to design a method of teaching English to students for whom English is not their native language has been the subject of much research and discussion among experts and educators alike. Many computer-based and Internet-based efforts have been impressive but, perhaps, none more so than NYC English The differences are startling: high-definition seamless videos, sleek graphics, high-quality sound, and a clean user-friendly interface.

TL;DR: Learn a new language from movies you love. That's really all you need to know…but If you have time to waste reading a characteristically lengthy app description designed for search optimization then, by all means, continue reading. Our bigtech overlords want to make sure you understand what's going to happen after you download our language learning app. So let's be abundantly clear. With our Nonsense you WILL NOT: • Get fluent in 30 days • Unscramble sentences • Get "easy" language examples • Increase your test scores in just 10 hours • Be harassed by colorful birds • Learn how to order coffee* What you WILL do is: • Immerse in Hollywood movie scenes • Understand words and grammar with in-context explanations • Hear many different voices and ways of saying things • Learn how native speakers actually use the language • Remember what you learn forever • Be able to quote Shrek in foreign language Learn 39 languages for free from your favorite movies: English, Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Spain), French, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Chinese (Simplified), Italian, Japanese, Korean, Czech, Polish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Swedish, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Slovak, Greek, Romanian, Croatian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Lithuanian, Serbian, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Georgian, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu, Thai, Farsi, Hebrew and Arabic. You can watch all the content for free (with annoying ads). You can pay to get rid of ads plus get unlimited saved words and scenes. You can pay a ridiculous amount to get UHD video and spatial audio. *You'll eventually learn how to order coffee because we add new movies every week. You're bound to get a coffee ordering scene at some point. Make sure you sign up for push notifications if you want to stay in the loop for new movie and feature drops. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Nonsense at 4.7 against NYCEnglish's 1.0. Nonsense also leads on ratings volume (422 vs 1) and update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 3 months). NYCEnglish's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.
