Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: vNote at none against Notebook's shown. vNote also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 14.0). Notebook's advantage is ratings volume (122 vs 14). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. vNote sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Notebook sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Notebook holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notebook has 122 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 95% of vNote's written reviews are positive against 93% of Notebook's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
vNote ships an update every 6 weeks, Notebook every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
