Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Lock Screen HD at none against Pimp Your Name's 1. Lock Screen HD also leads on review sentiment (74% vs 57%) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 16.6). Pimp Your Name's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (monthly vs every 33 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pimp Your Name sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Lock Screen HD asks for nothing beyond the download.
Pimp Your Name holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pimp Your Name has 449 ratings behind it against 71, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 74% of Lock Screen HD's written reviews are positive against 57% of Pimp Your Name's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Lock Screen HD ships an update every 33 months, Pimp Your Name monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
