neoSim by Nicutools is an interactive neonatal resuscitation simulator for medical students, nurses, midwives and doctors who want to build and maintain their resuscitation skills outside the clinical environment. The simulator models realistic newborn physiology: heart rate, oxygen saturation, temperature and lung mechanics all respond dynamically to your interventions. There is no script: the baby responds to what you do, and to what you fail to do. The baby is a full-body 3D newborn. A vigorous baby holds a flexed posture, moves and looks around; a compromised baby lies limp. The chest rises with each inflation, recession appears with respiratory distress, babies in distress grunt as they breathe out, and skin colour reflects oxygenation and perfusion. Capillary refill can be assessed. MODES Tutor: guided coaching with real-time feedback on common errors such as an inadequate ventilation rate, inappropriate FiO2, slow compressions or poor thermal control. Practice: unguided free practice with full equipment access. Develop fluency and muscle memory, and get a comprehensive debrief with a score. Challenge: a random scenario scored against a checklist covering preparation, ventilation, circulatory support, de-escalation, oxygen management and thermoregulation. SCENARIOS Term scenarios span mild, moderate and severe birth asphyxia, antepartum haemorrhage, pneumothorax and sepsis. Preterm scenarios cover infants from 24 to 34 weeks' gestation, with lung mechanics and resuscitation thresholds adjusted for gestational age. The baby's proportions scale continuously across the full 24 to 42 week range. Each scenario generates a unique patient with randomised starting parameters. Sim Builder lets you design, test, play and share your own sims: set the gestation and weight, antenatal history, lung disease, starting vitals, cord lactate, Hb and more. You can preset a range of initial PIP, PEEP, flow and FiO2 settings to teach careful equipment set-up before birth. EQUIPMENT A resuscitaire with a T-piece, manometer and PEEP valve, O2 and flow controls, and an overhead heater. A self-inflating bag, mask ventilation, laryngeal mask, endotracheal intubation, umbilical venous catheter, adrenaline and fluid boluses, needle decompression for tension pneumothorax, surfactant, supplemental oxygen with a blender (FiO2 21 to 100%), plastic wrap and hat. SCORING A full debrief after every sim, broken down by category, so you can see exactly where to improve. The optional AI debrief adds a written commentary on your resuscitation. LANGUAGES English and Spanish. The app follows your phone's language, or you can choose in Settings. neoSim is informed by the NRP and ANZCOR neonatal resuscitation guidelines. It is an educational tool intended to supplement, not replace, formal training and clinical supervision. neoSim is not a medical device and must not be used for clinical decision-making or patient care.
