ETCO2 (End-tidal CO2) is the level of carbon dioxide released at the end of an exhaled breath (expiration). Carbon dioxide (CO2) reflects cardiac output and pulmonary blood flow as the gas is transported by the venous system to the heart and then pumped to the lungs. CO2 concentration reaches a maximum at the end of exhalation. When CO2 diffuses out of the lungs into the exhaled air, the partial pressure or maximal concentration of the gas at the end of exhalation can be measured. ETCO2 is this measured value. It’s vital to be able to monitor and measure ETCO2 because changes in carbon dioxide levels can indicate hypoxia, a pathological condition in which a region of the body (or the body as a whole) is deprived of oxygen. If hypoxia occurs, irreversible brain damage can be the result. ETCO2 a very important value to monitor. A high ETCO2 reading in a patient with altered mental status or severe difficulty breathing may indicate hypoventilation and a possible need for the patient to be intubated. Low ETCO2 readings on patients may indicate hyperventilation. ETCO2 in Capnography and Capnographs: Capnography is the process of monitoring carbon dioxide (specifically ETCO2) in exhaled breath. The working mechanisms used to perform capnography are called capnographs. The ETCO2 app helps develop the knowledge about ETCO2 and various capnographs, and can be a useful tool for learning. The App shows the graphs for Apnea, Hyperventilation and Hypoventilation. It also shows capnographs for various medical conditions which are encountered treatment.

Rapid Vent Calculator is a clinician-focused field guide and reference tool for adult ventilator setting calculations, RSI medication dosing, and quick respiratory care references. Designed for paramedics, EMS clinicians, respiratory therapists, nurses, physicians, transport teams, ER teams, ICU clinicians, and hospital-based critical care providers, Rapid Vent Calculator helps organize common ventilator and airway calculations into a fast, practical workflow. Enter patient sex, height, weight, selected mL/kg, and metabolic acidosis status to generate adult starting-point ventilator values including respiratory rate, tidal volume, and minute ventilation. Calculations use ideal body weight and lung-protective ventilation principles for adult ventilator management. Rapid Vent Calculator also includes RSI medication dosing estimates, normal ventilator values, ABG/VBG blood gas reference charts, RASS reference guidance, dark and light mode, recent session resume, and shareable result snapshots. Whether used by EMS in the field, paramedics during transport, nurses and respiratory therapists in the ER, physicians in the hospital, or ICU clinicians managing ventilators, Rapid Vent Calculator is built to keep key adult ventilation references organized and easy to access. Key features: • Adult ventilator setting calculator • Ideal body weight-based tidal volume estimates • Lung-protective mL/kg selector • Respiratory rate, tidal volume, and minute ventilation results • Metabolic acidosis ventilation mode • RSI medication dosing estimates • Normal ventilator values reference • ABG/VBG blood gas reference charts • RASS reference guide • Shareable results snapshot • Dark and light mode • Clinician-focused workflow for EMS, transport, ER, ICU, hospital, and respiratory care use Rapid Vent Calculator is intended as a clinical reference and calculation aid for licensed healthcare professionals caring for adult patients. It is not a protocol, diagnosis tool, treatment directive, or substitute for clinical judgment. All values are starting-point estimates and must be verified against the patient’s condition, local protocols, institutional policy, and clinician scope of practice.
