Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Mars at 91% against Uber Shape's 50%. Mars also leads on ratings volume (22K vs 2). Uber Shape's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mars sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Uber Shape asks for nothing beyond the download.
Uber Shape holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mars has 22K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Uber Shape's written reviews are positive against 91% of Mars's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Uber Shape ships an update weekly, Mars monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 15, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
