Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Isotopolis at none against Sandbox's 1. Isotopolis also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (63% vs 47%). Sandbox's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 37 months) and ratings volume (8.8K vs 10). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sandbox sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Isotopolis asks for nothing beyond the download.
Sandbox holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sandbox has 8.8K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Isotopolis's written reviews are positive against 47% of Sandbox's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Isotopolis ships an update every 37 months, Sandbox monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
