Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: polymachine at Free against ChordUp's $5.99. polymachine also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). ChordUp's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 2.5) and ratings volume (41 vs 2). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

polymachine is free to download; ChordUp costs $5.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

ChordUp holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ChordUp has 41 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 94% of ChordUp's written reviews are positive against 100% of polymachine's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

ChordUp ships an update every 3 weeks, polymachine weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
