Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: WatchPal at 5.0 against APPIX's 4.0. WatchPal also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 83%). APPIX's advantage is ratings volume (42 vs 7) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 18.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
WatchPal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: APPIX has 42 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 83% of APPIX's written reviews are positive against 100% of WatchPal's.
APPIX ships an update every 2 months, WatchPal every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
