Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: mSecure at freemium against My Password's subscription. mSecure also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.8 vs 4.4). My Password's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.6). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. mSecure sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month and My Password sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
mSecure holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: mSecure has 52K ratings behind it against 46, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of mSecure's written reviews are positive against 67% of My Password's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
mSecure ships an update every 2 months, My Password every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
