About

Hold the Floor

Rehearse the conversation before it counts. Hold the Floor lets you practice a job interview, a salary talk, a phone call or small talk out loud with an AI partner that waits while you think: no timer, no interruptions. The feedback is in words, quoting your own lines, never a grade. It is free to start: one rehearsal a week, Level 1 of the daily speaking path, and no account. A partner that waits for you: rehearse your own situation with an AI partner, clearly labeled as AI. No timer: your turn ends when you tap Done. The partner stays quiet while you speak, and captions show every line, both sides. Speak or type on any turn. A daily speaking path: about 10 minutes a day with five useful phrases, a short conversation with an AI partner, sounds to listen and say, and a review of your own lines. Six levels, from everyday starts to hard talks; your first answer suggests where to start, and you can change it. Interviews for your job: 147 jobs, from nurse to electrician, plus a path from the recruiter call to the salary talk. Your first weeks: the doctor, the landlord, the bank and small talk at work, with local voices for Australia, Canada, the UK and the US. Your first 90 days at work, study abroad, and working-holiday jobs and housing. Speaking-test practice: short questions, a two-minute talk and a discussion with a calm AI examiner. Practice only, with no score. Feedback in words, not grades: what went well, quoting your own words, and one thing to try next time. Keep your best lines on a big-type cue card. Clearer sounds: check two or three tricky sounds a day against US, UK or Australian English. It runs on your phone, and your voice never leaves it. Gentle scenes: about 100 scripted scenes that go the same way every time, including phone calls and machines. They work offline. The app in your language, with the practice in English. Plain about price and privacy: no account and no ad tracking. Hold the Floor is a practice tool. It is not therapy and not a person, and the AI can be wrong. Free: one rehearsal a week, today's 2 or 3 sounds every day, every Gentle scene and Level 1 of the speaking path. Pro: up to 12 rehearsals a week, every level of the speaking path, all 45 sounds against the accent you choose, and your full history. Yearly starts with a 7-day free trial; monthly starts today. The price in your currency shows in the app before you pay. Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the period.
