Plan Milky Way views and Sun/Moon alignments with your place, time and gear. YOUR CAMERA, YOUR FRAME Use representative Sony, Canon, Nikon, OM SYSTEM, FUJIFILM or Panasonic bodies and lenses including Sigma/Tamron, or enter sensor size and actual focal length. Compare wide-to-telephoto framing, portrait orientation, supported converters and gear A/B. Share saved gear with sky, AR and planner views. The 15 mm fisheye preview is approximate. REASONED SHOOTING WINDOWS Compare up to three places using darkness, Galactic Center, optional Moon conditions and a coarse skyline. See sky-only, skyline-inclusive and combined windows for the uninterrupted duration you need. Missing or expired data stay unknown. Opt in to Apple hourly forecasts when searching. Set total cloud cover and optional precipitation, wind speed, temperature minus dew point and available cloud-layer limits. Cloud percentage is not shooting-success probability; the temperature/dew-point difference cannot guarantee dew prevention. PLAN WITH A SCOUTING PHOTO Overlay future sky positions on a photo from the same viewpoint. Use known stars or verified directions: at least two reference points with known FOV, or three when also fitting FOV. Capture time stays separate from future preview time. Inspect and apply local EXIF suggestions; place and time never change automatically. Draw a foreground line and find windows for the Galactic Center point above it. Photo/location/calibration mismatches and image extents stay unknown. JPEG/PNG/WebP and device-supported HEIC/HEIF display without external conversion. HEIC EXIF suggestions are unsupported. EXPOSURE, FOCUS AND PANORAMAS Estimate fixed-tripod stellar motion using pixel/sensor-mm limits over a finite grid, and foreground focus with working aperture and a blur criterion. Plan one-row, two/three-tier or full-circle rectilinear panoramas with spherical overlap, setup/exposure/rest/row-transition time and saved progress. Follow manual sky/foreground steps with separate shutter time, count, ISO, aperture and focus. Save up to 20 self-reported trial notes and review settings before reusing them. TRAVEL AND OFFLINE USE Plan up to 8 places and 14 nights, compare astronomy/terrain and open existing photo, gear and note records. Share itinerary JSON manually and preview imports. Terrain and bilingual guides are bundled for Japan, Banff/Lake Louise, Yellowknife and the partial Tekapo/Pukaki/Aoraki focus area in New Zealand. Coarse terrain does not cover all NZ or every local obstacle. Local calculations and records work offline. The online guide is free without login or purchase. SUN, MOON, SKY AND OFFICIAL REPORTS Includes sky charts, AR, Moon and arch searches. Search Sun/Moon alignments; inspect coarse background terrain to 100 km, disc visibility, nearby-time/viewpoint changes and user-assumed position/dimension errors. Manually read original JMA regional/ECCC city forecasts and NOAA Kp/short-range aurora models. Use reports only for their stated times. Save normal plans/photos/notes; export JSON/calendar events and schedule local iOS reminders. No automatic cloud sync. Trip JSON contains the itinerary only. Dedicated exposure/trial records are outside normal/trip backups; individual trial editing/deletion and file export are unavailable. Online weather/maps: Apple receives selected coordinates; ECCC a surrounding search area; JMA region codes; external maps chosen coordinates. Photos are not sent to forecasts. Apple weather needs iOS 16+; layers need iOS 18+ and available data. Apple weather is unavailable on Web. Finite optics/terrain estimates cannot guarantee pinpoint stars or visibility. No automatic photo recognition, distortion correction, stitching or external camera control. Fisheye excludes motion/focus/panorama calculations. Verify conditions and access on site. Never view the Sun directly. Use a suitable front-mounted solar filter and follow manufacturer instructions.
