Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: NOW Mobile at 5.0 against Platanitos's 4.5. NOW Mobile also leads on iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). Platanitos's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
NOW Mobile holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Platanitos has 69 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Platanitos ships an update every 2 weeks, NOW Mobile every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
