Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: CX at 100% against SMPL Golf's 50%. CX also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (5.1.1 vs 15.0). SMPL Golf's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.5). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
SMPL Golf holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 11 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of CX's written reviews are positive against 50% of SMPL Golf's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
CX ships an update every 2 weeks, SMPL Golf every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
