Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: UpperMark eReader at 100% against Sharktivity by AWSC's 47%. UpperMark eReader also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.2 vs 17.0). Sharktivity by AWSC's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (12K vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sharktivity by AWSC sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. UpperMark eReader asks for nothing beyond the download.
Sharktivity by AWSC holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sharktivity by AWSC has 12K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Sharktivity by AWSC's written reviews are positive against 100% of UpperMark eReader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Sharktivity by AWSC ships an update weekly, UpperMark eReader every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
