Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: JotNotes at every 3 days against Simple Notes.'s every 2 months. JotNotes also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Simple Notes.'s advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (61 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Simple Notes. sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and JotNotes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
JotNotes holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Simple Notes. has 61 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Simple Notes.'s written reviews are positive against 67% of JotNotes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Simple Notes. ships an update every 2 months, JotNotes every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
