Vertically and Crosswise Multiplication helps students learn and practice a compact visual multiplication method step by step. The method is commonly associated with Shri Bharti Krishna Tirthaji’s book “Vedic Mathematics,” published in 1965. In this method, numbers are multiplied using a sequence of vertical and crosswise multiplications. Two-digit multiplication can be completed in three main steps: vertical, crosswise, and vertical. Three-digit multiplication uses five main steps: vertical, crosswise, vertical, crosswise, and vertical. The method has similarities with lattice and grid multiplication. With practice, students may be able to do more of the steps mentally and solve multiplication problems without writing every step down. Features: * Step-by-step vertically and crosswise multiplication practice * Multiplicand can have up to 3 digits * Multiplier can have up to 3 digits * Students can enter their own problems * Current operation for each column can be hidden * Operands for the current operation can be highlighted * Three visual themes * Native interfaces for iPhone and iPad Other iDevBooks Math Apps: Other iDevBooks math apps include Visual Multiplication Table, Decimal Rounding, Whole Number Rounding, Column Subtraction, Column Addition, Long Division, Long Multiplication, Lattice Multiplication, Fraction Math, Partial Differences Subtraction, Partial Quotients Division, Partial Sums Addition, and more. Learn the legendary Vedic techniques Step-by-step interactive tutorials walk you through the four core methods — each one a different flavor of mental-math wizardry: - Nikhilam — multiply numbers near a base in seconds - Urdhva-Tiryak — the famous "vertically and crosswise" trick for multiplying anything - Nikhilam Division — division without the dread - Paravartya — elegant division that feels like cheating (it's not) Practice that actually sticks Guided practice holds your hand at first, then gradually lets go — with hints right when you need them and gentle nudges when you're close. Build real fluency, not memorized tricks. Level up through game stages Turn study sessions into a quest.
