Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Notes and Folders at every 3 weeks against Note!'s every 13 months. Notes and Folders also leads on review sentiment (80% vs 61%). Note!'s advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (1K vs 300). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes and Folders sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Note! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Note! holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 300 and 1K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Notes and Folders's written reviews are positive against 61% of Note!'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Notes and Folders ships an update every 3 weeks, Note! every 13 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
