kame turns web articles into speech. Paste a link, tap Read, and kame finds the article, sets aside the menus, ads and clutter around it, and reads it to you in a natural voice. FOLLOW ALONG Each sentence is highlighted as it is spoken, and the page scrolls with the voice, so you can read along or look away and just listen. Skip back to hear a sentence again, or skip ahead. KEEPS READING WHEN YOU PUT THE PHONE DOWN Playback carries on with the screen off or while you use other apps. Pause, resume and skip from the notification or the lock screen. CHOOSE HOW IT SOUNDS • Pick from dozens of voices, including American and British English speakers • Set the pace anywhere from 0.8× to 1.5× • Change voice or speed mid-article without losing your place • Your choices are remembered for next time MORE THAN ENGLISH kame reads English, Japanese and Chinese articles, and offers voices that suit the language of each one. EASY ON THE EYES A calm reading layout with light and dark themes. SIMPLE AND PRIVATE • No account and no sign-in • No ads • No third-party analytics or tracking in the app HOW IT WORKS kame needs an internet connection: articles are fetched and voices are generated on kame's servers, then streamed to your phone a sentence at a time. Most news stories, blog posts and encyclopedia pages work well. Pages behind a paywall or login, or sites that block automated access, may not load. kame means "turtle" in Japanese. It is unhurried, and it gets there. Privacy policy: https://kameread.com/privacy Questions or feedback: kamereadcom@gmail.com
