The aircraft carrier USS Intrepid served the United States Navy from 1943 to 1974. Massive boilers supplied steam to turbine engines that took Intrepid from the Arctic Circle to the South Pacific. The hard-working crew in the Engineering Department controlled and directed the high-pressure superheated steam. They also maintained the ship’s engines, boilers and miles of pipes and valves. Accessibility: - Screen-reader friendly with accessible navigation controls. - Audio descriptions of the modeled environment. - Captioning for all dialogue, sound effects, and ambient sound. - Adjust brightness, contrast, volume levels and more in the settings menu To learn more, visit intrepidmuseum.org or visit the Intrepid Museum in New York City.
